I’m not taking those plays away. I’m demonstrating how average does not equal consistent. We are a 2 yard per carry team that will occasionally break a long run. That’s not good enough to have us in 2nd or 3rd downs with favorable distances to gain, and why Richt doesn’t call as many run plays...

Averages...stats that show averages... Let me demonstrate the problem with averages. The game against VaTech, Homer had 14 runs for 95 yards--about 7 ypc. What that stat doesn't show it that 64 of those yards were on one run and the rest of the day he averaged 2 yards per carry. That goes...

Yards per carry is meaningless. Nobody gives a **** if on 3rd and 14 you can consistently run 9 yards so your punter has a little more room to operate or your coach is smart enough to play the field position game properly. Yards per carry is irrelevant here because we have exceptional running...

3 yards and a cloud of dust football won't cut it at Miami. We just don't have access to the types of big bodied maulers that the Midwestern states have, and we don't have the bag game like the SEC to go out of state shopping for 5* O-linemen. We're going to have to be balanced to keep defenses...

The last three seasons we've ranked 101st, 118th, and 79th in rushing yards per game. The difference last season was Rosier's 480 yards rushing. Take those away and we're right back around 115th. I will agree, though, that as the season wore on, he seemed to get a little worse at reading the...

Balance is getting your personnel involved in multiple ways from multiple sets. You can't have other teams keying run every time they see your FB on the field. You're going to see us with a lot of 21 personnel on 1st downs and also 2nd and medium situations where we can either run or pass. He's...

My argument was against your notion that QB play will be the determining factor in whether or not we will have success in the run game. It would seem, though, that you yourself no longer stand by that as this post indicates that you now believe coaching, play calling, o-line blocking, and...

    Travis homer 2018 expectations

How so? We ranked 118th and 101st nationally in rushing yards per game the last two seasons with Brad Kaaya behind center. Last season we were 79th. Take away Rosier’s contributions just for sake of fair comparison, and we were 115th last season. Two vastly different QBs with vastly...

Everything is fine. Ranking 79th in rushing yards per game (115th when you exclude QB runs) is right where we want to be. No need to be concerned with the O-line or running game.

The VaTech game is a perfect example of what’s wrong with our running game. Homer got 64 yards on 1 carry but for the rest of the night he ran 13 times for 31 yards. Barely 2 yards per carry. This level of inconsistent play is just unacceptable. We break one nice run to pad the stats and...

Which games did he “take over?” That 3 for 29 performance against FSU, all 29 coming as we trailed in the 4th and FSU was obviously guarding against the pass? A sane person might think the three games we lost should have ranked near the top of games where we needed our best RB the most. You...

Broke gonna broke. He said last year was the best line we had in a decade, and I asked how Duke Johnson became the Miami rushing leader and he comes back talking about wins and losses.

I said nothing of the sort. I’m of the mind that Searels hasn’t been here long enough to judge. I’m not trying to knock anybody, but the stats speak for themselves. We’re not a significantly better rushing team until we get significantly better along the o-line. This is year 3. Searels will soon...

And 2 of those are an absolute embarrassment. You don’t have a great rushing season when you totally **** the bed against two of the worst defensive teams in the division.

Try to stay focused. We’re walking about run production and whether O-line play or QB play has a more significant roll. Funny how when I mention the O-line that led the way for Miami’s all time leading rusher, you suddenly want to talk about wins and losses.

First off, Bull****. I have soundly defeated this stacked box nonsense. Nobody is stacking the box when your backs rank around 115th in yards per game. UNC was 112th in rushing defense and we only managed 42 yards on non-qb runs. We were the worst rushing team they faced and they played Old...

Perhaps you should factor in that we were 101st and 118th in rushing yards per game with Brad Kaaya, who if nothing else, was at the very least a far more accurate passer with much better completion percentages. Then you could maybe explain how we were actually better, 79th, with the less...

    Travis homer 2018 expectations

I think Homer is a **** of a back, but we need serious improvement on the o-line. Statistically, we were the worst rushing team most of our opponents faced all season and they all had at least 1 FCS school on their schedule with the exception of Wisconsin.

    Travis homer 2018 expectations

What games were you watching? In 13 games we failed to have a back break 100 yards 9 times, and 4 times nobody broke 50. We ranked 79th in rushing yards per game and much of that was due to early success with QB keepers on zone reads. Those became less effective as the season wore down and teams...
