Especially in that division. If Tua isn't the 2nd best QB in that division the Dolphins dun goofed.

I don't think the NFL has conditional picks other than conditional rounds in trades for players. Most picks have conditions in the NBA and I imagine NFL would be the same if it were possible.

Trey Lance + strong supporting cast is tough to beat. He runs the ball, gets the ball out underneath, doesn't turn the ball over and can throw it over the top. That's a winning formula. RG3 was 9-6 as a rookie under Shanahan and this is a better team with a better prospect.

Actually I'm more of your mindset that you draft the best players and build around them. I'm just rationalizing the Dolphins process. The Dolphins didn't know Elijah would be available in round 2. The Jets would've taken him at 23 if they weren't able to trade up for AVT. This circles back to...

I think the point Lance is making is that the Dolphins are executing a team-building process not just trying to draft the "best talents". Their vision offensively is to have a strong run game with RPOs and play action to speed guys who threaten a defense downfield. Waddle is the centerpiece of...

I don't disagree with your evaluation I just see the projection differently. I agree that he's well-built with good speed especially on flat routes out of the backfield. He gets to the sideline quickly and does an efficient job of catching and rotating to work upfield. When he has a crease he...

I don't get the Doaks pick when better backs like Jaret Patterson, Caleb Huntley, Trey Ragas, Spencer Brown, JaQuan Hardy, etc went undrafted. I graded 25 backs for this class and had Doaks 3rd last. Dane Brugler graded him 29/35.

Different players. Javonte is a power back with limited burst/speed and spotty vision. But he excels creating yards beyond the line of scrimmage with his contact balance and micromovement. Gap/power scheme behind a good OL and he can devastate. If he has to create behind the line and isn't able...

    NFL Dolphins draft plan

Yeah it's a fair debate. Sewell and Eskridge or Waddle and Eichenberg. I like all 4 players so it's a tossup for me. Meinerz is still available somehow and there are plenty of good RBs left. Etienne and Javonte weren't worth the draft capital they got imo. Gesicki is in his last year and could...

I like Hunter Long better than most. Solid workmanlike player. Phins are a Kylin Hill away from a very good draft. Not perfect but hit a lot of needs.

I'd be surprised. He's not a wide zone back. At UNC he basically just ran Counter and showed lousy processing/vision. They put in Carter for zone plays. I bet ATL takes Sermon or Herbert. Maybe they trade down or wait for the 3rd. They have a ton of needs on D.

Coulda had Parsons, Slater or AVT at 12 and any number of talented smaller WRs on Day 2. Waddle had the lowest yards per target of any top WR/TE Tua threw to at Bama. Does Tua have the arm talent to take advantage of Waddle's (and Fuller's) vertical skills? I don't get it. Waddle bailed Tua out...

    NFL Dolphins draft plan

Well the Cincy debate is interesting. Though I feel strongly about the Chase/Pitts side there are legit arguments for an OT. For the teams picking high who don't have a (young) franchise QB there should be no debate. You take Lance or Fields. And I include the Dolphins and Eagles in that group...

Pitts is the #1 guy on their board. I guess they thought he'd be there at 6 and were dead wrong?

Will the Falcons draft a QB? (1:30 PM ET on PFN’s Draft Insiders) The chances of the Atlanta Falcons drafting a quarterback are higher than what is being reported right now. If they go QB, look for them to potentially trade back to No. 6 with the Miami Dolphins...

    NFL Dolphins draft plan

The Panthers are desperate to get a franchise QB. A future 2nd and 4th doesn't signal a big commitment to a vet QB. They were willing to give up their pick, a 4th and a 6th (Bridgewater) for Matt Stafford. If they draft a QB at 8 that's paying the same price + a future 2nd for 2 shots at your...

    NFL Dolphins draft plan

How does a 6th rounder for Bridgewater on a 1year $10mil salary preclude them from targeting a QB? Draft QB, cut Lock, job well done. This Bridgewater deal could've been delayed until Saturday. I view it as a signal that the Panthers want teams to think they're considering QB to push a lineman...

    NFL Dolphins draft plan

Isn't that what they did? Robbing the Niners of 2 1sts to move back to 12. The mistake was moving back up to 6 - and I said that at the time - although I have a feeling the draft goes Lawrence-Wilson-Jones-Lance-Chase then Pitts is there at 6 and the Dolphins look like geniuses. But if that...

    NFL Dolphins draft plan

His play strength and ball skills are much better than Ruggs. Ruggs struggled with contact through the route stem as a rookie and Mayock has said he needs to get stronger. Waddle is a great player. The issue is value if you take him 6th overall when you can get Elijah Moore, Eskridge, Tylan...
