3 games in, I expected that UM would struggle on D because of slow LBs but that Steele would help mask the deficiencies with better defensive discipline. So far Steele has exceeded expectations. I did not expect special teams to regress and ***** up basic blocking and fundamentals like not...

So would it be accurate to say Candle and Mario talked about an OC position but there was no formal offer? Another poster here mentioned that Candle told Mario that he wanted to bring his entire offensive staff with him, which basically ended the conversation. That could explain why there was...

I believe you, it's just the first I've heard it was fake. I was holding out a tiny bit of hope that Mario was willing to move to a 21st century offense. So much for that optimism. Gattis is pretty much a carbon copy of Mario's Oregon OC Joe Moorehead, so not a surprise he was the guy.

The offer was widely reported, including by the local Toledo beat writers (who I assume are more plugged in than most). You think they were lying or lied to? As far as I can tell Candle didn't get a raise so he wasn't trying to get Toledo to up his salary like Briles did. You think Candle's...

IMO Mario's first choice, Jason Candle, would have been a terrific pick. And for those who say "why would he leave a HC job at Toledo" the answer is more $$$. He is making 1.2 million in Ohio, and UM was supposedly willing to pay up to $2 million per year for coordinators.

As some as said, UMs future depends on recruiting. Problem is the position we are most deficient in, WR , is also the position that we are not recruiting well. We're stuck - the Gattis offense won't work without better WRs, we aren't going to get better WRs because they dont want to play in...

FSU also went on the road against a more talented SEC squad (according to 247, 9 spot difference between FSU and LSU, same talent gap as between UM and aTm). Yet somehow the Noles left New Orleans with an actual victory, instead of a moral one.

I know that this is the offense style that Cristobal prefers (Gattis is a disciple of Cristobals Oregon OC Joe Moorehead) but if the offseason rumors were true, Gattis wasn't Cristobals 1st, or even 2nd or 3rd choice. So I'll try to lighten the mood and consider the possibility that Mario was...

It's also worth mentioning that for all the hate on Diaz, he still did one thing that took balls- after one year he abandoned the pro style offense despite "pro style" being a defining feature of UM football. The immediate result was consecutive years of a top 25 offense. Mario's connection to...

I wrote this last night but didn't post it because I was tired of the rah-rah crowd telling me I was being impatient or that it was dumb of me to suggest that Mario should have picked an uptempo power spread OC instead of Gattis. Since @DMoney brought the heat, I'm posting it now. ---- It's...
