    Managing the salary cap

Maybe I've confused the discussion in this thread. I haven't been valuing the positions in terms of importance, but rather how a business owner might prioritize his NIL money if he wants to get the best ROI (advertising exposure). I wouldnt give a 2 mil NIL deal to a 5 star HS QB recruit...

    Managing the salary cap

I think the thread was originally about valuing positions out of high school relative to NIL, if you operate with a NIL salary cap (10 mil per year for example). Here's how I would rank positions out of high school in terms of where I would prioritize my NIL money (from highest NIL down) 1...

    Managing the salary cap

I think the issue is that QBs are a crapshoot, especially out of HS. A top tier 5 star QB recruit out of HS is going to be in the market for a 7 figure deal (rarely see a top tier QB go into the portal). I'm not saying the QBs aren't valuable, just that it's such a hard position to evaluate...

    Managing the salary cap

King was a 3 star (excellent QB) TVD was a low 4 star (phenom) Malik Rosier was a 3 star (10 game winner) Jarren Williams was a high 4 star (basura) Tate Martell was a borderline 5 star (bench) Jake Garcia was a borderline 5 star (bench) QB is a tough position to evaluate. I've stopped...

    Managing the salary cap

2020- 4th round G 2020- 7th round G 2021- 2nd round G I guess some people feel it is meaningless that Clemson had, at best, marginal NFL talent on its OL for the last 6 years yet was still competitive for the playoffs and national championships. I think it is instructive because it gives you...

    Managing the salary cap

Very good isn't elite though. From 2016 to 2021 they had a 2nd rounder, 4th rounder, and 7th rounder drafted from their OL. If I'm looking at where to spend my money, I can see that a team was able to be nationally competitive without having a bunch of 5 stars (who cost a mint) across the OL...

    Managing the salary cap

You think Clemson had an elite OL in 2016 and 2018 when they won championships? I would say it was above average but nowhere near elite.

    Managing the salary cap

Agreed, especially with a QB talent like TVD. It may sound like hyperbole, but given who we have at QB, I think a WR like Addison would be the difference between a 9 win season and the playoffs next season.
