Whew, ok. I think McCloud is going to be super important in 2020.

Diaz says Lingard Redshirt Possible TFWIW

    Wait, McCloud is transferring?!?

Oh you're just saying allow no sit after a redshirt year. I thought you were saying they'd get rid of sit out all together. Gotcha. Could, I guess, but I don't see it. I think they're worried about this growing fad of "I didn't win the starting job so I'm quitting and going elsewhere" and...

Meh, disagree. I hear what you're saying, but if you go back to that thread the other camp of people were simply saying mybe there is a valid reason Lo wasn't out there other than 'the corches suck and refuse to play their best players', citing maybe health, lack of understanding everything and...

Disagree. They aren't going to full fledged free agency. In fact, it looks like they're headed the other way as they've had committees discussing trying to rein in the waivers being granted.

Zero chance he would get a waiver.

Good lord. NO! Redshirting does not affect having to sit out after transferring. You sit out the next year whether you redshirted or not (under the old rule and under the new rule) unless you get a waiver.

Roger. I was not aware the sit out year counted as a year of eligibility. That makes no sense. If that's the case, then my scenario I laid out above would have no benefit whatsoever. Then he is legitimately hurt. And all the people who clutched their pearls about CMU are idiots.

I didn't think the sit out year counted as a year of eligibility.

What part do you keep missing? Yes, he would sit out either way, but he'd have one more year of eligibility. That's a big deal. Again, I'm not saying this IS the plan (I obviously wouldn't know), and I hope like **** it isn't what's in his mind, but the somewhat odd sequence over the last...

Read the earlier posts. Yes, he would sit out next year if he transfers regardless of whether he redshirts this season or not. The only way he'd play next year if he transferred was if the NCAA granted him a waiver, which they seem to be trying to limit now after the Fields/Martell ridiculousness.
  12. For_The_U

Diaz says Lingard Redshirt Possible TFWIW

Sure, with one less year eligibility.

Diaz says Lingard Redshirt Possible TFWIW

No, I'm saying another potential angle to this is that Lo is NOT hurt, has decided he is going to transfer, doesn't want Manny to use him in more games this year and burn a year of eligibility, so he concocted this story to force Manny to redshirt him so he keeps this year of eligibility when he...

Diaz says Lingard Redshirt Possible TFWIW

@Unsider @Caneillac No, the new redshirt rule had zero impact on transfer rules. The only change was that you can redshirt after 4 games instead of being unable to if you played in a single game. But just like before the 4-game change, redshirting does not affect the rule that mandates you...

If there is truth to that (Lorenzo still not right medically), it will reveal how trigger-happy and idiotic a lot of people on here are. But it would be foolish to dismiss the possibility that this is him simply planting the seeds for a transfer.
