Totally and completely OT: Is this spouse worth $36 BILLION dollars?

Of course. A husband and wife can contract away from the default 50/50 split. Many do this pre-marriage, but it can be done during the marriage as well. With a few rare exceptions, they could agree to any form of split of assets they want. Of course, both parties would have to be agreeable.

Totally and completely OT: Is this spouse worth $36 BILLION dollars?

What the **** did I just read? When someone says "it's the law" it doesn't mean they necessarily support it. You may need to sit down for this, but your typical citizen doesn't get to CHOOSE the laws that apply to them. There are laws in place decided by others, and until those laws are...

Totally and completely OT: Is this spouse worth $36 BILLION dollars?

Totally and completely OT: Is this spouse worth $36 BILLION dollars?

Whether you agree with it or not, the concept behind marital property is not that the spouse contributed at all to the business. The logic behind it is that if the other spouse wasn't taking care of everything else like the house and kids, etc, then they wouldn't have had the time to invest into...
