Atlanta is getting a Michelin Guide. Absolutely pointless. There are 0.0 places here worthy of 2 or 3 and MAYBE 10 worthy of one. It’s a great food city but it’s not that kind of food or dining.

Eating out ain’t cheap these days. App, entree, dessert, two glasses of wine was about $135 all in for just me. However, their tasting menu spot upstairs is about $300 pp before wine or tax/tip.

Chicago people - went to The Loyalist tonight after Obelix was closed. Fantastic restaurant. Had French onion eclair, an ocean trout with Carolina gold rice pilaf, gooseberries, and endive salad, and a baba au rhum.

The opposite of Michelin food, but I will be eating everything at Jazzfest this weekend, starting with a pheasant, quail, andouille gumbo. https://www.nojazzfest.com/food/

Best is stupid. How do you compare a guy like Keller to someone who makes badass kimchi and bibimbap? It’s almost as stupid of an exercise as the Beard Awards. Chicago has some great spots… Monteverde, Publican, Avec, Girl and Goat.

Any of the Broward or North Dade folks been here? https://thekatherinerestaurant.com/ The chef was at Sugarcane in Miami, briefly had his eponymous restaurant open, but then it closed at the start of the pandemic. Anyhow, his food is incredible. He is half Chinese, half Trinidadian, and...

We went down to Chile for our honeymoon and covered it top to bottom (Atacama, Santiago, Wine Country, and Patagonia). It was incredible the variety of fruits down there, many of which you can get in SFL.

Probably the part of living in Florida that I miss most. Have you tried lucuma? I think that is able to grow in Florida.

Next time you’re in Miami proper, swing by El Palacio de los Jugos and get a quart of the guanabana juice to take home.

@SpikeUM I don't know if Indian food is your thing, but if you go to any baseball games this year and are not trying to get into a thumbwar at Titanic, check out Ghee. He was the Executive Sous at Michael's Genuine, used to have the same place in Wynwood, and then opened this place in Dadeland...

Definitely should not have googled that on my work computer lol. On a totally unrelated note, I have always wanted to franchise Chicken Kitchen out of South Florida but have heard their corporate management is an absolute disaster.

Same. He actually worked at my firm before quitting the life. My firm sponsor was the one that told him to pursue his passion. Dude gets paid to stay and eat at Blackberry Farm multiple times a year. Sigh.

Do you follow Ulterior epicure on instagram? He is this guy who was an attorney but was passionate about food at the right time in the days of social media. Anyhow, he got a big following, quit his job and became a luxury food and hotel photographer. He gets hired by all the Relais & Chateau...

It mainly means the Michelin guide was always more geared to places like the French Laundry in Napa, Le Bernadin in NYC, sushi places that do 15 courses of nigiri with other dishes, etc. You sit down, your choice may be do you want the regular tasting menu of 7 courses or chef's tasting of 12...

Last year was actually the first year. It was ok, which I think sums up most of the Michelin Guides. There are some cities that are made for it. I don't think Miami is (Los Angeles is not either), in that Michelin was always geared towards your fine dining, multi course prix fixe menus of...
