That used to be a great honey hole. I haven't been in there in years now. Honestly, my bourbon consumption has gone way, way down as demand has gone up. I just can't be bothered to run around chasing the truck to pay some of these crazy prices for bottles that were collecting dust not too...

I can’t bring myself to buy Blanton anymore. I need to pick up a bottle of the Bardstown Discovery when they release next for about that same price.

Being in the bourbon business, are distilleries ramping up production to reach demand a few years out? Obviously there’s only so much you can do for a 12 year bourbon in the short run. I’m not sure the prices will ever come back down anyways, now that it’s been proven people will spend it.

That's a keeper! It is crazy how much easier it is to get stuff up there. She needs to bring a 12 bottle wine carrier on her next trip up and come back with a stash.

It is crazy. I know that hunt and the current pricing is real. I just have a hard time moving my assigned value for this stuff. I have started getting more and more into Japanese whiskies, mainly because they just are not as hyped or hard to get.

Cognac can obviously get very expensive, very quickly, especially at the larger brands. However there is a huge movement of craft and grower cognacs that are both really good and reasonably priced. Nice little summary of some smaller labels: www.gq.com/story/the-best-cognacs/amp

I was even at one of the depachika food courts on the way to the airport, was in the liquor aisle, and got distracted.

Suntory now owns some of the US brands through the acquisition of Jim Beam. I think they did some experimental batches with the two distillers working together. But yea, the Japanese stuff is delicious and much cheaper over there. I regret not bringing a couple of bottles back when there in 2019.

You better make sure you save some for during and after the game.
