    Ivins: “numbers situation”

IIRC the only thing butch did, which did in fact promt a rule change, was out Santana Moss on a track scholly for the first couple years. Since then the rules have been changed to say that you can give a kid a scholly in another sport but the second that kid plays in a football game his...

But it’s not based in enrollment at this time I don’t think. There was talk of that changing the rule but kids who sign and don’t qualify count against your ICs at this time I believe. I know there was talk of changing that a the last couple of years but I don’t know if they actually passed...

Butch had the advantage of doing this in 1995. Butch wouldn’t be able to do anything of what he did back in the day in today’s climate. In 95 Coaches from the KKK school would still have to go into those neighborhoods to make contact with a kid cause let’s be real, not all of them had home...

You can’t be serious with this question....or are you?

In a perfect world you don’t need a grad transfer unless they’re a stud at a dire position of need

I’m under the impression that they would count towards this years ICs. We have 2 left if Moise doesn’t sign with us. That’s what I think but I don’t know that for sure. Would be great if someone could clarify because it’s a great question.

They count against something. Either this years class or next years class but I don’t think there is any grace period anywhere where a transfer doesn’t count against your ICs

    Ivins: “numbers situation”

So if I understand ur question correctly you’re referring to someone coming in after they graduate like the kid from Vandy or Stanford right? If they coming in after spring ball which year would they count towards the initial counters? That’s a great question!!!! If we can count them...

Honestly for my money.....I’d rather them take another WR with the offense we have coming in. Just think for a spread we short on WRs. Even with our TEs. Just my thought tho

Again all fair points but the rules are the rules and right now we have 1 more kid we can take, 2 if we don’t take moise or he defers to spring

Like I said I don’t disagree and I hope they do but the rule was put into place to stop school like Bama from signing 30-35 kids a year and processing existing kids in the rooster

I don’t disagree, but I mean that’s part of roster management and not having to rely in the portal. It’s a very precarious thing. It will come back to haunt you later on down the road. Is what it is. That’s why taking a kid who doesn’t qualify is bad too roght

Not true. Anyone who is on your team this year that wasn't on the team last year counts against your initial counter numbers. Grad transfers transfers HS kids

I hope you read this VERY CAREFULLY.....Scholarship count isn't the main issue with getting back to 85 scholly's. It's all about your INITIAL COUNTERS per year.

You can only really do that if you have clout. Kids would rather use us than delay their enrollment 4 months

Initial counters and why taking lots of transfers a year can really hurt your roster is my guess.
