It’s hard to answer. Of course kids notice material things. But they also notice which schools are serious about football. And they tend to go together. UM tries to act serious with upgraded facilities. But it wasn’t serious. And kids noticed. Hence the strange negative correlation mentioned.

The irony is, there’s a negative correlation at UM between facilities/academics and recruiting. Butch recruited better before the fancy stuff.

The ‘09 Canes should have done better. Our ‘07 team’s offense was so awful I’m surprised we kept it close. The ‘0i team had hankerson, benjamin, streeter and graham at receiver/te. Figs, Fox, Franklin, Trump and Gunn at OL. Jacory was a decent QB.

Interesting that the first analogies that come to mind for you are someone sexing your wife then dumping a log on your chest. What a position!
