    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

Little known fact- it’s owned today by Sandusky’s bail-bomdsman. Jerry had deservingly kept it.

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

It’s pretty incredible that in succession, UM had as QBs Jim Kelly, Bernie Kosar, Vinnie Testaverde, Steve Walsh, Craig Erickson, Gino Toretta.

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

I have watched cfb pretty closely since ‘82. Nebraska 95 and a couple of the recent Alabama lines (‘12 and ‘20) are the best Ive seen. Wisconsin ‘11 was **** good. Alabama OL won the outland trophy and the rimington this year. McKinnie is as good as any college OT i have dver seen, maybe the...

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

They were not the best OL in history. It’s a ridiculous claim, imo. Obviously context matters - who they played, what plays we called, who skill position players were. Of the whole group, only McKinnie had any notable pro career. Not that that tells you everything, but it’s a clue. McKinnie...

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

Here we all are. The game isn’t stupid. It isn’t even real, obviously. It’s just a discussion amongst fans bored by the off-season.

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

Alabama had 3 guys who were AP first team All Americans on it’s 2012 OL (2 in ‘12, 1 in ‘13). NB ‘83 had one AP 1st team AA and one guy who made it in ‘84. Not the only way to measure, just noting.

‘01 almost lost to BC. Would ‘86 barely beat Bc?

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

Don’t forget Perriman, and Roberts! No college can handle a HOF WR plus 2 other top NFL pick WRs( 2d round for blades and perriman). Irvin would have eaten, or one of the other guys would have had a career day. I continue to think the critical match-ups would be vinny vs ed reed, and how...

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

McKinnie absolutely dominated Freeney, who was quicker than Stubbs and had a better pro career. Stubbs lined up on both sides iirc, but my guess is Butch would have lined him up away from McKinnie in that matchup. Hawkins would draw the short straw.

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

That’s an aggressive claim. You believe that? Better than ‘95 Nebraska? Better than all the best Alabama, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan, USC lines? I don’t believe that. McKinnie was as good a college LT as you’ll ever see, but that line was more set up to pass block. It wasn’t the...

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

I disagree. blades, mcdowell ... ‘86 had great DBs and ‘01 had only Andre. ’01 needed more weapons. Contrast ‘86 had 3 nfl WRs on it, including the Playmaker. And with Jerome in the middle, Dorsey wasn’t going to have a lot of pocket to stand in. Shockey was a good weapon but 86 had really...

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

He was second team AA by AP, UPI and sporting news. He got a couple first team recognitions but wasn’t a ‘consensus aa’

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

It’s an interesting question - - JJ vs Coker is easy - Ed Reed vs Vinny T is easy Bad game for Vinny and ‘01 wins big. Good game for Vinny and ‘86 wins all day long.

    OT/ 86 Miami vs 01 Miami

One note - you do the whole depth chart but it's misleading. McGahee wasn't a big part of the '01 team. Gore got time over him. Just as an example. KWII also. It was Shockey. Walsh was on the roster but Geoff Toretta got the back-up snaps iirc. W. Smith was on the roster but A. Roberts...
