Maaaaaybe. Petersen is elite, but many here were killing Richt for being too nice. Well Petersen takes the cake in that regard. This board would kill him for a 9-4 season with close wins and losses, he doesnt typically step on the other team's throat when can or play a lot of backups. Most here...

Long story short... his son had cancer when he was HC at Boise St. He was being treated at UW, so Coach Pete took the job at UW over many other jobs, he turned down NFL, USC & I think UCLA too. Kid got a clean bill of health maybe 2 or 3 years ago, so lets all just hope it isnt about his kid.

I was gonna say, I probably know Coach Pete the man as well as anyone on this board... and staying on in some capacity sounds more like him than bailing for USC. He's a great coach that not 1% here would like in charge of Miami.

He's turned down USC in the past, but that was when his son had cancer. I wonder if now is the time for him.
