Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

It should not be a money issue as every D-1 school is allowed 13 guys on scholarship. Plus, Miami gets close to 20 million dollars from the ACC every year. My only thought and I am probably wrong is that Coach L wants guys to wait their turn and play but in this age of go where I can play now...

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

If and when healthy, Stone will contribute nicely for Miami. He and Walker should be very good coming off the bench for Miami to start the season. If he is completely healthy then he will probably push Sam Wardeenberg out of the starting lineup. The only question with Stone is when will he be...

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

Truthfully, development is up to how hard a player works and the coach expanding a players role and minutes each year. Good point though. You want a high 3 star and not a low 3 star.

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

I would expect Beverly to start at some point during the season. I would be shocked to see Coach L start a freshman over a senior for the first game of the season. It will probably change a month into the season though. Another Cincinnati player got a waiver to play this season and he used...

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

Thank you. Definitely meant Walker. It is funny though. Some fans say they want 3 star guys who will stay 4 years and develop. Then they see Anthony Mack play and they want the talent level to be upgraded on the roster. Some fans don't know what they want. I say, if you are one and done...

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

I know some of the fans do but last season didn't "just happen". It was not "one of those seasons" per the interview. There was an element of poor decisions that also caused last season to happen and some of that is on Coach L. The FBI investigation is not his fault but failure to use all 13...

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

Your evaluation is correct as you went deeper than I did. My point is both Lykes and Newton have a scorers mentality and neither are passing up shots. Granted, Lykes takes more threes but for a point guard, both take too many shots.

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

That is very hard to do. He is a scorer similar to Jaquan Newton. Once you become a scorer or have a scorer's mentality then flipping the switch and becoming a pass first point guard is very difficult. Almost impossible. It is harder than people realize to re-invent yourself at each level...

Interview of Coach Larranaga on "Marching to Madness"

Thanks for posting. This is what I find interesting. 1. 14-18 was not due to "a lot of injuries." Only Deng Gak got injured. SMH. 2. 7 scholarship players, 2 unused scholarships, one transfer redshirt, one coaching decision redshirt, one injury and one NCAA suspension. 3. 9 guys available...
