This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

Usually when coaches add guys from the portal, it’s because they feel that spot has a deficiency that needs immediate help. They didn’t bring Parrish in to be emergency depth. At least two of these guys will be gone next year.

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

Chaney Parrish Knighton/Franklin situational. This is just my opinion now, assuming Chaney is healthy (big if) and Citizen has some typical freshman question marks.

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

I see no reason why Citizen can't have a similar role as a freshman than Duke Johnson had. Mike James got more carries but Duke had more yards and touchdowns. Not saying Citizen is Duke level talent but he's much bigger and more than capable of taking the pounding.

No he's the one who started Knighton.

Now you're just embarrassing yourself. James Cook career numbers: 230 carries 1503 yards 6.5 ypc 14TD Jaylan Knighton career numbers: 197 carries 770 yards 3.9 ypc 9 TD Cook doubled Knighton's rushing yardage on only 33 more carries. Also, just because you have a crush on a player, it...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

What are James Cook’s numbers compared to Jaylon Knighton? How about Reggie Bush’s? Those guys are much better players. You’re comparing two star players to one average player. Since my posts hurt your feeling so much, maybe put me on ignore.

Alabama running backs in 2021: Brian Robinson - 271 carries Trey Sanders - 72 carries Roydell Williams - 48 carries Let’s look at the greatest team of all time Clinton Portis - 220 carries Willis McGahee - 67 carries Frank Gore - 62 carries Everyone rotates backs but most teams have one guy...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

It was a zone run scheme. There’s only a handful of plays you can run because they’re not designated to run through a specific gap. The offensive line essentially blocks one way and the running back picks the hole. (That’s oversimplified but still) Inside/outside zone coupled with the veer (read...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

Everyone’s a good running back when the offensive line blocks perfectly. The offensive line doesn’t always block perfectly. Good running backs find a way to still get yards.

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

Harris’ problem is lateral movement. He isn’t very good at changing directions without slowing down a ton. In the open field he could jump cut and it was fairly effective. But in limited space he would struggle finding the lane in the zone scheme. The double edged sword of a zone blocking scheme...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

We've had a sub par run blocking line for a while now and some guys were able to be produce somewhat while others didn't. Anybody can be a good running back when you're just running through huge holes. The difference between great backs and average backs is the ability to produce even when the...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

Fans latch on to recruits and then go overboard defending them when they don’t pan out exactly how they hoped. It’s why some fans swore Yearby was better than Cook. ****, there’s still a contingent of fans who think Tirek Austin Cave should be starting at MLB even though the old staff and...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

I don't think he's an All American but it's not like we've got a backfield full of proven talent. He's probably the best option of the group currently. I think Chaney had/has the ability to be a RB1 but he probably just stubbed his toe and is out the next 4-6 weeks. Knighton is not an every...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

Dude runs like he thinks he's Jerome Bettis. Maybe it's better to attempt to not get tackled rather than just running right into the defender.

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

Why would you say that? He's had far more success during his career than every other back on the roster. He's rushed for 816 (5.1 ypc) and caught 28 passes for 232 yards in two seasons in the SEC. He's done a lot of work in conference play against good teams. He hasn't just seen garbage time...

I’d also argue that App State was a much tougher defense than Duke or Georgia Tech. So the whole P5 defense argument is moot Edit: App State finished 25th nationally against the run. Georgia Tech was 100th and Duke was 117th

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

The whole Gus Malzahn offense is based around the inside zone run and it’s one of those bread and butter plays that your team should be able to execute. Miami couldn’t consistently and Lashlee had to change his gameplan. To his credit, he slowed the tempo down after the North Carolina game and...

This is why Parrish and Franklin have a great opportunity

I still think Parrish is our RB1. There’s nothing he does that totally wows you but he does everything well. If we’re really putting a premium on not having negative run plays, Parrish and Franklin will be the guys. Neither is a game breaker but if we’re trying to have a consistent, power...

Yes, credit to you on that thread. Also, just casually watching the highlights and they only run inside zone once in the first 9 or 10 plays. ThEy OnLy hAd OnE rUnNiNg pLaY!
