    Baker: play calling or scheme?

The rule book is tailored for offense in every way possible. *they allow O-linemen to block 3 yards+ downfield on pass plays *can't hit QB's *can't hit WR's *barely call holding anymore Allowing OL to run block on a pass play is by far the biggest cheat IMO. It's completely unfair to the defense.

Here's a graph that shows the completion percentage of various throws. You'll notice that the lower percentage throws are VERTICAL DOWN THE SIDELINES. Now this chart reflects NFL statistics, where the QB's and WR's are elite. We play against college QB's and WR's, so the completion percentage...

    Baker: play calling or scheme?

Said no person with a Miami attitude EVER. So you would rather give up EVERYTHING underneath, to the tune of 7-12 yard completions all night, then to gamble on the lower percentage play?

NOBODY improves under the this staff. I'd like someone to name ONE player that got better in their 3/4 years here. Even the 4/5 star guys we had didn't improve a single bit.

EVERY defense thrives with great Safety play. General statements like this are not exclusive to the way WE play defense. We don't ask our Safeties to do anything special. (unless we're playing against the most explosive slot WR in the country, then we ask them to play man on him)

I just have a hard-time believing in this defensive staff versus any decent offensive opponent. Sorry. If I'm trippin' then show me ONE good offensive opponent that this defensive staff ever out-coached/dominated.

Last year it wasn't THE problem, but it wasn't elite either.

    Baker: play calling or scheme?

At times we do TOO MUCH with schemes and it has it looking like dummies. We need to just line-up and be sound more often. And I don't know that our DL has NFL players "up and down". Nesta, Phillips, Harrison-Hunt and Roche are the only NFL guys I see so far, and Roche will go late IMO. (he's...

    Baker: play calling or scheme?

That's not an "approach", that's just how we play defense. For those that think this is a good idea, let me remind you that good OC's will gladly take EVERYTHING IN FRONT OF YOU the entire way down the field. You will die a slow death. The logic of giving up easy throws all game in an...

    For sure.

Our offense is our stronger unit...in only it's first season...with no spring...a new QB and 2 Freshman RB's.

You're saying Louisville put up 34 points and 500+ while 3 of their guys had career days SIMPLY BECUASE THEY HAD MORE CHANCES? (Because our offense scored so quickly) Why couldn't we just stop them on those extra chances? Is there a rule stating that the opponent's offense HAS to score if they...

    Baker: play calling or scheme?

The one decent offensive opponent we faced scored 34 points and had over 500 yards of offense. Their QB, RB and WR all had big days. That same offense got skull fvcked a week later by Pitt. Does Pitt have better defensive players than us? Since Diaz has been here this defense has accumulated...

    Baker: play calling or scheme?

Some stuff we do on defense is really nice. Other stuff, not so much. Against FSU, Bolden's sack and McCloud's sack were nice "overload" blitzes. Nothing fancy or crazy about them, we simply sent too many off one side for FSU's OL to block. It's sound, quick and gets home. Some of our stunts...
