Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

Unless the federal government outright sponsors it (not happening), college will never be free to all. The federal government cannot dictate what a private institution does within the confines of the law, and no one is making charging tuition illegal anytime soon. I could maybe see a law...

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

This is a fair point. Typically if you can get into Stanford/Harvard/Princeton, et al, they'll find a way to ensure you can enroll and pay.

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

I'm not sure HOW a college could pay students given Title IX. If all sports got equal resources, there's not an athletic department on earth that could survive that. The vast majority barely break even as is.

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

Totally agreed. And that's not even getting into grad/med/law school, which is more expensive and probably suffering worse inflation. Just like college football, it's an arm's race. Trustees of major universities have an obligation to alumni/enrolled students to maximize the value of their...

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

This is just outright incorrect. Enrollment levels at prestigious, established schools is not markedly increasing. Campuses are finite and good schools focus on class size.

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

Coaching salaries in college, as well as college tuition, have completely blown inflation away for decades now. They will ONLY decline in purchasing power if growth in salary is less than inflation, which is frankly laughable, even in inflationary periods. Might they regress in growth rate...

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

Across the board, perhaps. But elite coaches provide an ROI to the university that virtually if not literally nothing else can. I can guarantee without question that Saban and Dabo more than pay for themselves. Now, I'm not exactly saying I agree with it, but Clemson and 'Bama aren't much of...

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

Demand for elite coaches increases at an increasing rate. Supply stays effectively the same. Price goes up. This is day one of econ 101.

Coaching salaries are going to drop or plateau

“It is no crime to be ignorant of economics, which is, after all, a specialized discipline and one that most people consider to be a 'dismal science. ' But it is totally irresponsible to have a loud and vociferous opinion on economic subjects while remaining in this state of ignorance.”
