MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

Northwestern has been mediocre at best for most of the last 20 years, keep in mind, that's their best run of success EVER. Basketball has come a long way, but they are still mediocre more often than not. Compare that to adding a legit brand like Miami, Notre Dame or someone else.

Exactly, it's about money. Even though TV markets aren't nearly as important to those making the decisions as it was a decade ago, it also doesn't make sense to have brands like Miami sitting on the outside looking in. I can't wait to see what happens when Northwestern and Vanderbilt get...

MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

Yet those same conferences have no problem carrying crap like Northwestern, Vanderbilt, and other schools that can't, nor will ever have any kind of significant success in football. UCLA hasn't been relevant in football for almost 35 years, and their basketball program is very hit and miss at...

Those schools were pretty much screwed no matter what happened. This is the problem, there will be solid brands that will be left out of the Big 2, while crap like Northwestern and Vanderbilt will get to ride coattails. None of this makes any sense whatsoever.

You can't make this stuff up. Hey, let's go based off of incomplete, unverified information and make far reaching assumptions about people. Brilliant idea.

That isn't surprising. Why add competition? Fans only look at this from a "Oh great, another school that can theoretically be extremely competitive in our conference". Keep in mind, some schools (UF comes to mind) sees denying Miami entrance into either the B1G or SEC as a chance to crush for...

If something that is for the most part beyond our control(We can lobby all we want, but if we don't control whether the B1G or SEC adds us or anyone else) something that would turn you off to Miami, then hit the bricks. Seriously. We're all frustrated, but honestly, tired of the "If I don't get...

That's a rational take and we can't have that on this godforsaken board. I wouldn't be shocked if Miami is intentionally keeping their mouths shut, because there is already a way out, they just need someone else to do the heavy lifting. One thing I've learned from my career, if you have what...

MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

You forgot one important thing: We have some of the most miserable fans on planet earth and they will whine no matter what. No one knows anything, and just because the University of Miami isn't out here leading the way, doesn't mean that they aren't doing what needs to be done behind the...

Not really. SMU isn't in the Big XII because TCU pulled an end run and sold Iowa State, Okie State and those schools a bill of goods on SMU. TCU wants to be Dallas' team, and SMU in a major conference directly hurts that push. When things are equal and both programs are decent, SMU tromps TCU...

The Pac 12 didn't have a choice. Their conference dynamics are significantly different than the ACC, hence why SC and UCLA could walk with little to no penalty. When you don't have a TV deal and nothing to lock people in, you don't have any leverage. Never mind the fact that even though the...

Who gives a crap about why FSU and Clemson does anything? We may have a common end goal, but it's not like Clemson and FSU are looking out for us. Who knows what back deals are being cut, maybe Miami has talked to the other schools and said "Listen, we are going to want out once the B1G expands...

No conference wants to hold schools there that don't want to be there, it's a weak place to be. If the schools make it clear that they will leave the MOMENT the GOR expires, it becomes a "We can get some money now and these schools leave or we can be jerks and make them wait, but they are...

And this is why it's exhausting dealing with our "Fanbase". Say it with me: RAD IS NOT BLAKE JAMES. STOP ASSIGNING BLAME TO GUYS THAT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CRAP SHOW THAT CAME BEFORE THEM. You really think one of the nation's most respected ADs magically forgot how to do his job once his...

MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

First of all, FSU and Miami haven't been on the same page as institutions since Bobby retired. Once Bobby retired, FSU started acting like UF, and Miami resented that for good reason. This is why Miami has been sitting back, and not flapping publicly, we may share a common goal but we are...

MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

Miami voted yes, because we have a belief that we won't be there 5 years from now anyway. The ACC backfilling spots that will be open once FSU and Clemson bail(and likely us and UNC as well), is a rational move. Barring them taking a bunch of AAC schools, this was as good as it was going to...

MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

The ACC knows that eventually, they will have to let FSU and Clemson walk, they are just backfilling those spots early. Makes sense when you think about it. Odds are Miami will be in that exodus, because if the SEC adds FSU and Clemson, the B1G will want to add us and UNC.

The fact that our fanbase still thinks Miami is just sitting by and doing nothing is hilarious. Rad isn't Blake James, he just isn't flapping his gums like a desperate idiot. Move in silence, let Clemson and FSU take the brunt of the abuse for trying to break up the conference. Miami is in a...

SMU wanted out of the American, and was willing to pay to do it. That Oil/RE money is long enough to where they can eat the lack of TV revenue, if it means that once that period passes, they are getting significantly more than they did in the AAC. I'll never get why the Big XII didn't take...

MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread(Its still personal)

It's great for us as well, due to recruiting ties. Miami has always recruited Texas well, now we have a conference mate in the area. That said, I doubt we are in the ACC 5 years from now, so one can argue the ACC is just backfilling spots that they know will be open in the near future.
