Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

I’m not sure what more you expect from an in-the-stands perspective. I’ve been to a lot of minor league ballparks in the southeast. Single A teams often have ****tier parks than the Light. Double A are on par. And triple A are usually better. I don’t think you can ask for more—or expect...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Already been said that it probably won't be in Charlotte. They have the same problem that Durham does--because of a new rule in their minor league, they won’t be able to block off enough days at their stadium to host the tourney.

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Such an ***-backward post. The WORST attendance since the game has been held in Charlotte (64,787) would rank it as the SECOND BEST attended game among those held in the 3 Florida cities. 4 of the 6 years that the game was held in FLA, it generated at least 11k fewer ticket sales (and, in one...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Wow, you are one dumb *******. This has nothing to do with my liking the ACC tourney in my backyard. I'm able to separate my own selfish desires and interests from the business of running a sports conference. You're conflating football, basketball, and baseball into one post, and the...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Uh, not everyone was aware of the bidding and that the game has moved around. There are literally about a dozen posts in this thread that misguidedly decry the fact that the ACC doesn't bid out things. And there are another handful of posts that whine about things always being in NC--which...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

OK< thanks. Yeah, putting the conference tourney in Jacksonville for 4 years really screwed the non-Carolina teams. Same with having it up in VA. Totally screwed all those non-Carolina teams. Same with having it IN the Carolinas...I mean, obviously there is malice (and the flip side...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Like I said in my initial post on this, I know it's fun to play the "Us against the world" card, but the ACC isn't "******** over the non-Carolina teams.

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Dude, you didn't even know that the league actually does put the tourney site up for competitive bidding. I'm guessing you didn't know that the tourney had previously been in Jax. So please....just stop.

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

For those who don't seem to know, the tourney hasn't always been in Durham. It was in Jacksonville--the very Jacksonville that you guys are arguing about--from 2005 to 2009. Was in Salem, VA (outside of Roanoke, close to Blacksburg) for a few years before that Was in Greensboro, NC, for a few...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Again, I hate to side with you here, but these dudes are either dumb or nuts. Or both. Totally illogical arguments.

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

You do know that the ACC football championship has been held in Tampa, Jax, and Orlando, right? Any guess as to why it's not held in those locales any more? It ain't because the league is trying to ***** UM and suck up to tobacco road. It's all about attendance and money. Attendance was...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

It feels weird to side with Jagr, but ****, a lot of you guys are really off the mark. I know it feels good to play the "Us against the world" card...but sometimes you guys need to drop the BS and look at things logically. No one's trying to ***** UM here.

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

And surely you recognize the financial benefits to the league of hosting a baseball tourney in NC instead of FL. Sooooo.... your post is irrelevant to a discussion about the ACC baseball tourney, then. Got it.

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

I get that the ACC has a history of favoring Carolina schools and ******** everyone else. But your post is utter BS with regard to baseball.

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

I don't get the "Carolina favoritism" angle. Nobody plays at DBAP (or in Greensboro or Charlotte), so no team knows the bounces or the lines any better than the others. And it's not like football or basketball, where you're going to get home-crowds with a lot of noise. There are usually no...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

Nothing against Jax, but the plus of having it in Durham is that it's convenient to fans of several schools. UNC, Duke, NCSU, Wake, Clemson, UVA, and VA Tech are all within 150 miles, GT is a couple hours further down the road, but still driveable. That means a good number of butts in seats...

Durham to no longer host the ACC tourney

****, I'm (selfishly) bummed. I live in Durham and quite liked having the tourney here. DBAP is a great ballpark, and the atmosphere for the tourney was pretty solid.
