You're right that it's people with blue checkmarks peddling the narrative that it ended poorly but you can't just denounce all the criticisms. The show's writing is egregiously different than what we all fell in love with 2-3 years ago.

Definitely in the pantheon of greatest of all time, people saying otherwise are just feeding into the herd. It ended well enough for me. Should there have been more? Probably. But people have to move on.

I haven't read the books, personally, but from the people I know who did. They don't say it's necessarily better, it is just deeper. There is so much more story you can fit into 500 blank plages compared to 10 hours (per season) on TV.
