    College HC experience is non-negotiable for me. P5 preferred but not required. NFL experience is great, but only if the top one is already satisfied. Don't care about NFL experience if he hasn't coached in college. No preference re: offensive or defensive mind. Don't think it matters.

    Yes. There was a glaring issue with Folden when he was hired. Once he had better talent, and his teams were projected to accomplish things, he didn't do it. They'd lose 3 conference games and end up without hardware. Sounds awfully familiar to how things played out at Miami.

    The Gundy ship has sailed , so it's water under the bridge. But this "fit" argument doesn't work for me. Gundy has had success, over an extended time, at the secondary program in his state. He's also recruited very well in Texas. I don't see a "fit issue," and I hope this isn't the analysis...

    1) quality of staff assembly; 2) record of elevating programs. Most people can be eliminated very quickly.

    I want a coach with a proven record of assembling a quality staff relative to the college job he is at. Quality staff means high level recruiting and improving on the prior regime's results.

    These suggestions of two-to-three year NFL assistants are really weird. Some of you have no clue how to scout a college football head coach. Bill Clark and Hugh Freeze would both be good choices.
