That's unfortunate. I guess Eskew decided to go the JC route? Any news on how the McFarlane kid has thrown the ball this fall?

This is the deepest roster we've had in many years. Let's hope the returning players come back fired-up and not assuming they are starting just because they performed last year.

Nice, but for my information what is a 1/7 curve-ball for a lefty? Do they use that description instead of 11/5 even when the pitcher is LH - 1/7 would break away from a RH hitter, which sounds more like a change-up/screwball to me?

I suspect he is converted to an OF or plays 3B or 2B in the big leagues. His slow release becomes less of a liability that way.

Nothing wrong with a little competition for PT - helps keep the current starters from getting complacent. And while it seems like a nice problem to have at the moment, the roster could change quite a bit before the start of the season and injuries seem to hit us (and many teams) every year at...

While it's nice we're getting recognition, I cringe any time I hear that everyone is picking us to win something. All of these so called experts are notoriously bad at making predictions. Let's hope the coaches and team pay no attention to this stuff and work their tails off this off-season...

I hope you are right, but since AZ still drafted him and they have a large bonus pool, this one could go down to the wire I would think.

Sure hope we get McFarlane to campus if Eskew signs. Eskew is the bigger risk of losing it appears, based on who drafted the two (AZ has the big bonus money pool that was discussed in the other thread, and St Louis took a lot of pitchers ahead of McFarlane).

A welcome change and a nice problem to have. Now, we have to translate to the field and Gino can repeat this kind of class in the future.

Veliz not in the the Top 300 any longer?

I am surprised Veliz is that far down with his stuff. Maybe he comes back if he goes that late?
