I think it’s more about the cost of scholarship more than safety. College tuition had risen so much that it is just more “expensive” from a tuition dollar standpoint to give kids full rides than it was on the 80’s and 90’s. which of course again means that money wins over safety.

I'll admit Golden kept his buddy on staff, but you assume he had the budgetary freedom to hire a better coordinator. Richt only kept one perosn on staff due to loyalty-his son. And that probably had more to do with keeping a marriage intact than anything else.
