Agreed. Also there’s not too many teams with 1-2 that can’t be guarded by pack and Bens. Bens can guard 99% of 6-4 and under guys. And if/when we do come across a team with NBA length at the 1/2, Watson and George potentially give us extraordinary lineup versatility. Having said that I still...

Expect next year’s starting lineup to be: Pack Bens Poplar Cleveland Omier Our bench depth is actually pretty decent other than at the point, but both Pack and Bens can play the 1 if the other were injured. I think George, Watson, and Casey have the potential to be orders of magnitude better...

Pack will play the 1, Joseph the 2. I was saying that Joseph can guard any opposing 1/2 guard (even someone taller because of the way Joseph plays defense)… and extra length in whomever plays the two for us doesn’t really help Pack at the one. And I don’t think more length at the two really...

I’m not sure this is correct. Joseph is capable of guarding almost any 1 or 2 guard. If Pack is a defensive liability he’s gonna be a defensive liability no matter who is playing the 2. Of course I hope George can be a major contributor early… but I disagree that you can’t play Pack and...

Bens is not a defensive liability against any 2 guard. Pack and Bens is a top 15-20 caliber starting backcourt. The ceiling goes way up if George can contribute meaningfully. I’ve always thought that we need a depth piece/rotational player in the backcourt more than a plug and play...

I think you make a great point that gives us some more hope… still freshman are always and inherently unproven commodities and we have two starter quality guys returning in our backcourt. So I suspect UConn has an easier sell in terms of competition for PT and shots.

Exactly how I feel. Spencer is between us and UConn. He had a great visit but I’m sure the situation in Storrs looks really appetizing to him. I could be wrong but I think the only backcourt player they are returning with any meaningful experience is their PG.

I think you’re right… but I also think we’re good with or without Spencer. Probably better with him but team dynamics and chemistry factor in a way we can’t possibly evaluate as fans. Only issue is that L rides a shorter rotation… maybe he goes deeper into the bench with more guys he can...

No doubt I agree. I think we could still be great without him, but he is definitely a perfect fit for our roster… the only downside would be possible attitude issues with Bens or Watson or George. Generally I prefer development from within… but no doubt it’s nice to add proven studs.

That’s my thought too… but maybe there’s some scenario where L thinks he can make it work depending on Wooga’s development. That being said, last year L was real clear that he wanted Wooga to be a one or two bounce guy rather than the dribble, dribble, dribble, crossover, turnover.

If it were just about the best 5 individual players then Kentucky, Kansas and Duke would be in the final 4 every year. I hope L proves me wrong but I’m not sure that Nelson fits Poplar is gonna start and may be our leading scorer if he develops the way L hopes/expects. If Poplar starts at...

I don’t that is a workable lineup with only one guy who can handle the ball.

    2024 Transfer Portal

You’re not wrong, but also 11-13 are rarely ever playable. I think we have a roster of 10 guys who can actually play / are ready to play. Very, very few teams can afford to lose a key contributor and make a deep run in March anyway.

Also I’m not sure he really fits. I think he would want to take more shots (at a lower efficiency) than would be best for the team. IMO what we really need is a unicorn 6th or 7th man guard who is willing to transfer and be a rotation player but who can give us good quality minutes.

There are plenty of arrogant pricks in the Ivy League. Plenty of phenomenal people too… but Ivy correlates more to academic achievement than character. Also, he was used to being THE guy. A Ferrari in a parking lot of used sub-compact sedans. Not sure how he will take to playing with guys that...

L is gonna have his work cut out for him if Dingle comes here. I’m not convinced he is a plug and play superstar and there are only so many shots to go around and Dingle took a lot of them last year. Y’all got mad at Wong but Dingle had enough bad Wong nights against lesser competition...

I don’t know if his deal is actually 2mm per year but I know Kansas has insane NIL funds so it wouldn’t surprise me if that is a real number. There’s only a few schools who can put up that kind of money… NIL really isn’t changing any of the fundamental dynamics of CBB - the blue bloods will...

And then you hear that ****inson is being offered 2 mil/yr by multiple programs. Not saying that Kansas is spending 13mm this year, but that’s what I’ve heard from the most reliable of sources is their available NIL budget for basketball.

    2024 Transfer Portal

Kansas has a 13 million dollar NIL budget. We’re not poor, but basketball doesn’t have access to that kind of $$ here at Miami. Such a disgrace how the sports media ran with Miami “buying” their team. Our NIL deals paled in comparison with most of the blue bloods last year.

Because right now we have a starting 5 and the style of ball we have been successful playing doesn’t work with Omier at the 4.
