    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

Does he have pull on the board? I think he would be ideal to spearhead a 10 year vision for the AD and the football program although his "E over W" nonsense kind of worried me.

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

This is where I'm at as well. There is no sure fire guy out there for us to hire. This is what Mario. Mario will fix the issues plaguing us: - he'll stack quality recruits especially at DL and OL - he'll hire a competent coaching staff - he'll bring discipline and accountability to the...

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

I would add to the drama...Joe Moorehead was Bob Shoop's boss at MSU. Moorehead was the offensive strategist and Shoop was his DC. Have no idea if they had an amicable relationship but there are several ties between UM and UO.

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

The amount of ground that we need to cover in order to get past clemson on a regular basis is significantly more ground than....well, oregon doesn't have to cover any ground. Yeah, I know USC is a "sleeping giant" but they are a few years away (at least) from that.

You should not looking at history - let's look at current day. Tell me the current landscape in the current Pac10. Who is Oregon competing with NOW?

Disagree with that. Who does Oregon need to compete with in the pac10? Miami, otoh, still has to unseat the top dog - clemson.

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

Eh, I'm ok with him learning how to be a CEO type of a big time program on someone else's dime. He got some great experience at Oregon and he would not have had that if he had been here with us a few years ago.

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

Two reasons why I don't think Mario does anything until after the new year: - I don't think he'd leave before the season ended (I suppose it's possible) to finish out a good run at UO - Buyout drops by about 40% after Jan, IIRC.

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

from what I've read, his buyout drops to under $7m after January. We'd have to pay SOMEONE's buyout anyway and based on the pool of folks we're looking at, we'll have to pay something in the $4m-$8m range anyhow. And, we'd be offering $5-6m anyhow, so I don't see Mario costing THAT much more...

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

This is what I've been saying. UM should pitch to him a 10+ year plan and convince him this is his last job. I think if the school does that and shows him a vision and long range strategy and backs it up with quantifying it, it's a wrap, imo. I think it was a blessing in disguise being at...

    Interesting stat on Miami/Mario

There is for sure a chance with him. He's been to Miami twice in the past month, non football related, and I know some BOT have him on speed dial.
