No idea. I’m just basing my opinion on what I’ve seen in videos and the vocals in songs. All I ever saw Oates do was strum an acoustic and barely add any back up vocals
Although I like some of their tunes, I’m not a big fan so I have little knowledge of the inner workings of the band or “duo”. My perception is Hall’s vocals carried their success and Oates added very little vocally or musically.
Hall has a show on AXS TV called Darryl’s House. . I watch occasionally when he has a guest worthy of my time. One of my favorites was with Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
Some of their songs have catchy tunes but their not something I want to hear incessantly.
