This is diaz version of a hybrid 4-3/4-2-5 defense. At miss st. he had a in the box ss that had some size and moved him to sam. It isn't really a true 4-2-5 but it will be a bigger safety or undersized speedy LB playing sam.

I think diaz is trying to use smith and finley like he was planning on using grace at sam. Undersized guys at LB but they have more speed and are asked to do more in coverage. I wouldn't be suprised if they don't move zach to mike or will next year if shaq or mike leaves early.
