All of our summer associates and first years get paid the same amount (for their respective positions). In my experience, the FIU law students tend to be solid legal writers who work hard. I've also never had the situation where we offered an FIU summer associate and he/she failed the Bar in...

I am very involved in hiring at my office and I have been making a point of doing OCI at FIU Law for about 6 years now. From a hiring perspective, they're a great value.

I hear you. It really shouldn't be that hard to pass the Bar. And, yes, there are a myriad of factors. But then again... FIU Law graduates have finished first in Florida on eight consecutive July bar exams and three of the mid-year/February exams since 2016. Since 2005, more than 87% of FIU...

Correct. But I never wrote law school should be designed to "teach to the test". It is a professional degree in a profession where you can't practice law without passing the Bar. If your students aren't passing the Bar at a reasonable rate (as you charge them over $50K per year), that's a...

I stopped reading after your strawman argument in the second sentence. You read what I wrote. You are intelligent enough to understand what I wrote. Don't be disingenuous.

Strongly disagree. It's law school. The point is to prepare students to practice law. You can't practice law without passing the Bar. Period. And blaming the students? No. That's a policy problem. If UM law is drawing subpar candidates, what does that say about the law school? At some point...

FIU Law is definitely a more regional law school than UM Law (at least for the time being). But, any difference when it comes to AmLaw100 jobs outside South Florida is negligible. Absent connections and/or graduating the top 10 in your law school class, a graduate of either school has a...

Change in methodology. Basically, US News increased the weight of more objective performance benchmarks (e.g., Bar passage rate, employment 10-months from graduation, and ultimate employment), while decreasing the weight of some of the more subjective components (e.g., reputation among...

I am not certain that is accurate anymore. 12-15 years ago, sure. But more recently, I'd bet the JDs graduating in the top 10% from FIU are about as likely as those in the top 10% from UM to get hired at an AmLaw100 firm or federal or state appellate clerkship.
