    Clock rule changes

Advertisers would be clamoring to put ads on Maryland games... 🤣 🤣 🤣

I both love that clock (for transparency purposes) and HATE IT (as the obvious reminder of how much commercial time dictates game stoppages).

    Clock rule changes

I'm not asking to change all the rules at once, I just presented all of the ones that would have an impact. But to your point about "too much at once", just go back to what I said on running the clock ONCE THE BALL IS SPOTTED. It is a medium-impact change. It allows the offense to not be...

I would also add this, Mario played under Dennis Erickson, who was very aggressive about spreading the field and throwing the ball. Now, that's not to say that Mario might not have been happier on a play where he got to block for Stephen McGuire busting a run up the middle than he was just...

Pretty much nailed it. NASCAR does ads where you can still see the live action in picture-in-picture. Do the same thing for football, do 10-15 second ads when teams are substituting players and let the announcers have a quick water break.

    Clock rule changes

It's a very fair point. When I was at NASCAR, we used to talk about the "engagement" and "activation" numbers. We had stats and analytics that proved our fans watched the commercials more, acted on the commercials more, and were more loyal to NASCAR adverstisers than other fans were to other...

Gonna have to find alternate methods. NASCAR has done it.

    Clock rule changes

Dude, you're full of ****. Once again, you do not even bother to address how THE RULE about stopping the clock after first downs has actually contributed to the problem. It hasn't. In fact, when you take into account the CONFLICTING things cited in the various articles (yes, we have more...

    Clock rule changes

I'm not complaining about "integrity". I'm concerned that the CONTENT of the games will change. Hey, why don't we just go to 10 minute quarters? That would help all the games go to 3 hours only... But the REASON is that you expect a football game to have a certain duration, with a certain...

I'm fine to knock it down to 15 minutes. MORE MEDLEYS!!!

    Clock rule changes

There needs to be a balance between viewership and the game itself. Stop the clock on incompletions and first downs UNTIL THE BALL IS SPOTTED. Then wind the clock. COMPROMISE. Also, knock 5 seconds off the play clock. Problem solved.

    Clock rule changes

I never denied that the games were running into each other. My point is different from that, which is to target things that MAKE SENSE. Again, the pro leagues have put WAAAAAY more analysis into what is causing these things to happen. The NCAA just makes scattershot rule changes and acts like...

    Clock rule changes

Define "too long". If the rule has been in place forever, how is "the rule" causing the overages? Maybeeee...it's something else? EDIT: I blame the Gattis "look at me" offense...

    Clock rule changes

But then what would the NCAA do to earn the massive amounts of revenue that they retain for themselves and do not share with the players?

    Clock rule changes

All we have to do is add a pitch clock, and we'll have these college football games down to 2 hours in no time. Tailgates are gonna last longer than the games... But at least ESPN will be able to air more content...and ads...
