This is correct. That’s why you have to have an elite defense, or a scoring option inside (both of those lead to easy baskets), to hold serve in situations like this. Miami had neither.

Less turnovers, one more Off rebound, +5 from the FT line, same % from three, transition points were close, points off turnovers were close. The game came down to making shots. UCONN did, Miami didn’t.

Coach L looked defeated right there. Can’t blame him though. Final Fours runs are so tough and to watch one melt away in that fashion, has to be hard. Everything happened the exact opposite way of how he wanted it too. And most of it was by the team’s own doing.

Let’s just hope these last two season are what this program is becoming, and not just an outlier. It’ll be devastating to look back 30 years from now and not have been able to relive this again.
