Very true ... however ... "firing for cause" is generally tied to some sort of behavior that is defined as "unbecoming" whether a crime or simply some action that could damage the reputation of the university.

Would be more impressive to DO IT AT MIAMI and BEAT Bama.

The numbers .... were almost unbelievable" 2018 Season. Passing Yards 2970; TD's 17: Rush yards 2257; TD's 29 2019 Season. Passing Yards 6024; TD's 61: Rush yards 2502; TD's 32. Looks like a fairy tale. Really wish Brady would see that putting a 2 year stint at Miami as OC could re-launch his...

I read an article where the OC was quoted directly "I hired Joe Brady to come in and modernize our playbook. Whenever we got into 3rd down and red zone situations I said 'Joe it's yours' and he took over and called the plays." The result was going from near the bottom in both categories the...

Panicked ... was early February and Jason Candle said "no" after they thought it was a done deal. Needed an OC for Spring Practice ... and simply hired the "Broyles Award Winner".

Couldn't even get along with Alonzo ... crazy. Guy MUST be a legit *******.

Sure seems the longer it drags out the worse it looks for Gattis. The entire coaching world knows he is not wanted by Miami ... and it looks like he isn't wanted by anyone else either ... for any position.

Matt, on Canesport, insists that it is simply UM giving Gattis the opportunity to find another job and that if he can't THEY believe that UM will demote Gattis to WR/Co Oc and bring in another OC/QB coach. That to me seems like a no win for anybody as Gattis has a horrible relationship with the...

No but Joe Brady would inject some unique passing concepts for 3rd down and red zone situations ... you will see when he arrives as soon as Gattis departs.

The "damage to reputation or career" was self inflicted by Gattis' performance in every aspect of his job.

Clock was ticking ... Mario struck out on his first choices and needed an OC and there was "The Broyles Award Winner". So ... his agent might have included a clause regarding "similar position required" for early dismissal? No idea.

“bigger than money or buyouts” sounds rather ominous. Some obtuse legalese to pre-empt any legal action for being terminated? Crazy!!

He's not out because he was instructed to cease contact while his job search and termination agreement situation is finalized by the AD, and the final terms could be tied to his hire date anniversary as contracts generally are tied to specific trigger dates. As the "insiders" have commented ...

Have to believe contract anniversary dates might have some impact on the "discussions" to a degree. February 6 was the hire date so perhaps things accelerate a bit after 2/06/23? "Generally" sides will agree to prorate days prior to a contract trigger date unless they are playing "hard ball"...

It is the NFL and they ARE in the playoffs ... with a lot of injuries on the OL.

You do realize that this situation is not in Mario's hands right? The Athletic Director, Dan Radakovich, is the individual with the responsibility for all contract related issues ... including termination related issues in complex contractual agreements.

From all accounts it is not that simple as paying the remaining year on his UM contract. If it were it would have been done. Apparently the Michigan contract and some clauses in it that Miami agreed to pick up ($$$) are a delaying factor ... negotiations ... and possibly some "employment...

Speculation ? -UM contract balance for 1 season = $1.8Mil -Funds owed due to wording in Michigan contract that UM accepted as part of his deal = $500K - $1 Mil. -Other? Has to have a "comparable position" on termination? Or some such BS?? Cribby, do YOU believe that Mario has his OC/ QB coach...

No ... not at all ... simply a figure that some have speculated might be on the high side. $1.8 MM from UM for 1 season remaining on his contract as of Feb 2, and some "interpretation" of funds that are apparently still owed to him from his Michigan contract. Another $500K to $1 Mil.

Was reading a comment by Ferman regarding Gattis stating "he holds all of the cards and he won't leave to take a job that he doesn't believe is a good move and I don't see UM firing him and being stuck with that buyout". I don't see it that way at all. Even if UM is forced to pay $3 million it...
