Which hire would be the best hire to stop Ohio State from taking all our 5* receiver recruits?

Yea. I trust simple installs and 1/2-reads over complicated terminology and full field reads, and I trust spread over condensed, but the one thing I legit think will not work at the highest level in the modern meta is a philosophy of burning clock from the jump and trying to shorten the game...

@MarioCristobal I will settle for adding an "Analyst" with extensive responsibilities re: teaching, our offensive design, and weekly game plan.

There are a lot of capable & overlooked coaches at the lower levels who never get the opportunity. Chip Kelly was at New Hampshire before he got the Oregon OC gig. Wouldn't be shocked at all if the actual best available OC is some guy at FCS who will never get a look.

Some other Moorehead guys: Luke Getsy (Chicago Bears OC) - obviously not an option unless he gets fired Andrew Breiner (assistant QB coach Jax Jags)

I don't think he wants a mid college job, rumor at UF was that Mullen was chasing NFL gigs and stopped recruiting his last year there.

If he is a guy that doesn't like recruiting then getting paid HC money at the U for a while before an NFL offer comes in could make sense.

If I had to guess they specifically want a "read the whole field" offense and they think the Heupel thing where the QB reads the 2nd level option route of half the field is too much of a mickey mouse gimmick. Need a coach who is good at teaching if they are gonna go with a more complicated...

Man I really just want Brady, who are the best guys out there that run this exact stuff? Fan summary of "Joe Brady at LSU" offense https://www.catscratchreader.com/2020/1/27/21081531/nfl-carolina-panthers-film-room-breaking-down-the-joe-brady-offense...

Yea there is large list of OCs whom informed fans are saying there is "no chance" Miami hires for reasons that are not completely clear. Garret Riley? lol never Dan Mullen? no chance Still haven't gotten an insider to explain to me Mario's specific offensive design preferences outside of "run...

    * has a good offense. When I think Big Ten offense I think Bo Schembechler hat on a hat condensed running, Iowa corn team with a good oline and no skill guys using a bunch of fullbacks and playing slow and trying to bog down the game and limit total possessions, stuff like that.

Important point. The concepts (especially the simplified, easy to teach, options to make the defense 'always wrong' parts) are what matter. The 5 WR pass all the time gimmick was for teams without elite talent trying to exploit a particular competitive landscape at a particular time. Those...

I think they might portal in a QB for 2023 if TVD is out, assuming they don't feel the need for a "This is a green QB, he needs time to grow" excuse for next year.

This may be the most attractive OC job opening in the country because it is gonna be the highest paying, we are gonna be portaling in a huge amount of talent, and the last offense was so bad that fans are gonna crown you for simply achieving an average 30 ppg spread offense against a manageable...

Also makes me wonder, how many OCs that aren't QB coaches end up being elite? I know Joe Brady coached WRs but when I hear that the OC isn't a QB coach I get suspicious.
