    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

The numbers don't lie. @bshaw28 has written a doctorate level thesis paper on this topic over multiple threads. The empirical evidence all points to the same thing. Of all the running backs who have gotten carries on our team the last two years, Jaylon Knighton is the least effective. The...

    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

Miami was 66th in the nation in rushing offense in 2020. 163 yards per game. That's middle of the pack, not great but nowhere near atrocious. In 2021, through 6 games, they were averaging 160.3 yards per game rushing. Once again, not great but decent. Cam Harris got hurt in the 6th game against...

    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

I think once the back is more than three or four yards downfield, it’s really on him to break the run. The line can give you a hole but it’s up to the back to turn a five yard gain into a twenty yard gain

    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

This is the excuse for Knighton everyone keeps using. Every other running back on the team the last two years all played in the same scheme with the same blocking. They all averaged more yards per carry than Knighton besides Rob Burns who only had 16 carries in 2020.

    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

Mike James was the starting running back during Duke's freshman year. He wasn't a bum. He had 621 yards rushing and also caught 30 passes that year. He got drafted and played three seasons in the NFL. Duke was a star right away but James was a very productive college running back.

    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

Not sure anyone can make the claim that Chaney is elite at the college level. We're talking about a guy with less than 80 career carries and a 4.7 ypc average. He's shown some flashes but he has to stay healthy. I don't care if you're Barry Sanders. If you're injured, you're worth less than a...

    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

I believe he'll be used more as a receiving threat this year and that suits his talents better. He's not a RB1. Everyone blames bad blocking but every other running back who played the last two years averaged more ypc than Knighton. If .he's used more as a hybrid receiver/running back, he can...

    TreVonte Citizen - Year One

Running back is one of the few positions that freshmen can transition to from high school fairly easily. If I HAD to pick a freshman who I believe will be starting at some point this year, it's 100% Citizen. There's a lot of competition at running back though.
