I suspect that the future (20 - 30 years) will see large hauling vehicles transitioned to synthetic oil (as produced by Germany in WW2), while leased personal vehicles (likely the vast majority) and owned personal vehicles are mandated to be EV.

You will if gasoline production is shuttered in favor of a full EV transition in a few decades.

That’s a fascinating scenario. I remember such a mass evacuation from Galveston in the early 2000s. Both traffic arteries were opened to head north, but there were still jams. All it takes is a handful of stalled, uncharged vehicles.

My wife and I took a trip last month from Austin to South Padre. It was a six hour road trip. With a gas powered vehicle, we had to stop once to fill up. It took 5 min. With an EV, would I need to book a hotel halfway to S Padre to allow for recharging? What is the time to fully recharge a car...

We need an electric version of this beast.
