What kind of condition is Dadeland Mall in these days? Might that be an option?

This is the closest example but Im still disallowing it :05.18-flustered: because Pitt would play big games at Three Rivers Stadium. In 1976 when Pitt won their lone modern era national title the Pitt-Penn State game was played at Three Rivers Stadium. This is what will happen if UM builds...

How much did it cost Jeffrey Loria to pay off Manny Diaz Sr. to get Marlins Stadium built?

The reason other entities have shrunk their stadiums to the 45-50K range is because they want to attract more events. A sub-50K stadium is more versatile. That would be good for John Ruiz and his pet stadium but bad for UM football.

Not enough to field a team that's won a national title. See the discussion in this thread. No team with a stadium capacity under 65K has ever won a national title (in the modern era).* * half titles dont count

They're gonna play Alabama in the Orange Bowl in the semifinal game. The only reason Cincinnati is going to lose that game is because... Their home stadium isnt big enough. :troll-slap:

Wait. Put a few seconds back on the clock. I retract my amendment from the previous post. No team has won a national title with a stadium less than 65K in seating capacity. Half a title doesnt count. BYU Stadium. (Note BYU won their national title in 1984) FromWikipedia: The...

Modern era, homey. You know the assumed guidelines for college football discussions. Seriously though, we'll regret it if UM ends up in a 50K seat stadium. It'll make games against Savannah State "feel" better but it will hurt when it counts, when an Ohio State or Texas A&M comes to town.

You people dont realize what it will do if we build a 50K seat stadium. The ticket prices for big games will be un approachable for many fans. Season ticket prices will skyrocket. And most importantly, in big games teams like UF, Ohio State, and others will end up with half of the stadium...

GA Tech only has half a title so that doesnt meet the criteria I posted. :11263726654-a089dabd70-o:. lol BYU's only title was a fluke. Beating a 6-5 Michigan team in a bowl game. But I'll allow your example here and amend my previous statement to... 63K or larger

50K is nowhere near big enough. When we play a big game against a team with a bigtime fanbase, their fans will end up with 40% of the seats. It needs to be a minimum of 65K because of big games. You cannot name a single bigtime program with a sub 65K stadium. Certainly none that have won...

65K seating capacity or its not worth doing. Tiny stadiums suck in big games.

I don think this Ruiz guy is thinking big enough. Instead of trying relocate Coral Gables high to build a new stadium, he should consider relocating the University of Miami closer to Hard Rock stadium. If he fills in a few lakes, UM can relocate to Ives Estates. :monkey-serious:
