it’s just weird for posters to ask, “why don’t other teams with a talent disparity do this if it’s such a good strategy?” The teams that typically have the highest 4th down conversion attempts? The service academies. It’s because those staffs are more analytic driven. They have to be. They...

Like I said. You’re a genius. I love Lane Kiffin. You figured it out despite my best efforts. You don’t have to keep rubbing my nose in how smart you are. Show some humility in your victory.

There are a lot of heavy underdog teams that use it. Look at Navy. They go for it a ton during this successful run they’ve had. Why? Because their talent sucks. So they try to find a down and distance advantage to mitigate that and give them a competitive advantage.

Although Ole Miss probably should have gone for it there. Statistically speaking, your chance of getting 1 yard is high. If you punt, probably the best case is you give the other team really good field position in your own territory. Which almost guarantees a score. I wouldn’t be shocked...

defense is tough because it’s so talent driven. You can offensive system your way to being better without the massive talent upgrade. It’s real difficult to do that on defense.

You just saw Baltimore go for it on 4th and 1 late in the game against KC to ice it in their own territory. That would have been unthinkable just a few years ago. You can do your own research. Just stay away from the section that says, “the greatness of going under center with the fullback.”

Kiffin has a lot of issues as a HC. But telling your team, “we came here to win. So anytime the down and distance gives us a chance to have a competitive advantage in the game, I’m going to take advantage of it,” isn’t one of them.

that’s his point. Bama’s players are so much better than Ole Miss’, it really doesn’t matter. It’s probably going to be a blowout anyway. There’s some idiot in this thread saying, “well, just lose 40 to 0, instead of 60-0,” like that means something. But that probably are you’re only two...

yep. Bama is number 1 in the 247 Team Talent Composite. Ole Miss is 27. And the average recruit ranking is wider than that might appear. The two teams aren’t even playing the same sport. It’s like playing blackjack. The only way you’re walking away from the table with money is playing by...
