Your recollection of history is bizarre. Richt donated 1M of his own money, yes, and he brought credibility to the program, but he wasn't on the phone and at these parties talking to the donors. But again, if your stance is to be upset at James, then you do that.

The school has money. They've been cheap about spending it towards athletics. There's outside pressure to change that, but that's not going to change overnight in a dramatic way and we're also never going to spend like an SEC school because we don't generate that kind of revenue. That's why...

Again, his bosses like him. He's in good standing with them primarily because he fundraises so well. They're not getting rid of him now so it makes no sense to be mad about it, IMO.

How, this position doesn't exist. If you want to be mad at James, be so. But at least get your facts straight. He's hired 2 football coaches, one of whom was central to getting the funds raised for the IPF primarily through the team's first 10-win season in a decade. You call that a failure...

He also fundraises better than any of his predecessors and that's why his bosses are happy.

I mean, he's showing he's willing to hire someone who has better knowledge of football ops than him and now you're criticizing it? Ok then. Criticize him if he doesn't do it, IMO. But if he's willing to let someone else have authority who's better suited to make these decisions, I'm all for that.

What's your point? They have 1 person at the administrative level that reports to the AD who handles football ops. That's exactly what Alonzo would be doing. He'd report to Blake and oversee football personnel / recruiting / player development / etc..., but only for football. It's been said he...

Alabama has a Director of Football Operations. VT just hired a Chief of Staff. As did FSU. Schools are moving this way to have someone primarily in charge of football since it is such a mass revenue generating sport.

You're also being riled up by a Barry Jackson report, a reporter known to have bad sources. Let it play out. Alonzo said if he leaves the NFL, it's to move down to Florida. It'll get sorted.

He didn't hire Manny without support from the BoT and he's also got the support to hire the Chief of Staff / GM / whatever they're going to call it. Fans are upset with James, but his bosses aren't. That's why he's going to get the opportunity to handle this as he sees fit.

So people who lambasted James for not doing a proper search are now criticizing that he wants to do a search for, potentially, his most important hire to date, if what Barry's reporting is accurate? I know some of you want to have it both ways, but you really can't. Don't go losing your mind...
