Chick speaks out on Mark D’Onofrio/Golden Era

It’s wild because Applewhite has generally been successful as a position coach and OC. He wasn’t even terrible as a HC but he did make the fatal error of hiring D’Onofrio. There’s a bunch of worse coaches than him with better jobs.

Chick speaks out on Mark D’Onofrio/Golden Era

Slightly off subject but it’s weird that Major Applewhite kind of fell off a cliff. He got fired for going 15-11 at Houston and did the coach rehab at Alabama for two seasons but could only parlay that into a QB coaching job at South Alabama?

You're literally the only person pushing this narrative. The Chickillos, along with multiple former UM teammates and others close to the program have stated that he was forced to gain weight to play DE in D'Onofrio's 3-4. He could have easily stayed at 240 and played the "rush LB" position and...

Chick speaks out on Mark D’Onofrio/Golden Era

For the record, Golden's only non dumpster fire season was 9-4 with a bowl loss. Richt had a 9-4 bowl win season and a 10-3 division title winning season. In his first two seasons, Richt eclipsed anything the Golden ever did here.

Chick speaks out on Mark D’Onofrio/Golden Era

Golden's two biggest faults were that he coached Miami the same way he would coach Temple and his insistence on sticking a square peg in a round hole. His first season here, he didn't have the type of players he needed to run his preferred Al Groh 3-4 defense so the played a ton of even front...
