Great stuff! IdahoCane stopped football and transferred after suffering multiple injuries at UM. Speedster, played DB and QB. From W.P.B. or P.B. area as I recall. Son played for UAB and before that as QB won state championship for Hoover AL which was coached by Rush Probst. Not comfortable...

I'm still in touch from time-to-time with **** Sorensen who lives in No. Va. Retired but coaches at a local high school. Son Nick played for VaTech and is now the Seahawks' secondary coach. Pete Carroll seems to be loyal to his assistants if he likes them. Golden Ruel has been with him forever...

Mirto was American Indian? Did not know that. A lot of people, especially in the South, seem to have some Native American ancestry going back generations.

Record for 109 yards is 9.07 by Asafa Powell en route to 100 meters. Most of the other very fast 100 yards were hand-timed and thus unofficial.

What's the world record in 100 yards? 9.1? Faster? Bob Hayes? I didn't realize that when Bob Hayes blew through the long-standing 100 yard mark of 9.3 it was done in Coral Gables, but the track was not identified. (According to something I read recently). so I think that Hayes' legendary run...

I called the Kalombo family at home once to invite them to a Hurricane Club function in D.C. A lot of yelling in the background. I guess maybe that's common in their culture. Bukasa's father was a diplomat, at one point Congolese ambassador to the Kremlin.

That's the way old-timers used to say it. More common when I was growing up in the 1920's.

Doesn't come close to a Barry ***** or a Golden Ruel.

Robert Thomas in the '80's was probably pretty fast. From Roosevelt HS in DC. His coach said he was fastest kid on the East Coast. His HS track rival was Eric Metcalf from No Va, a kid we thought we had. I think Texas might have bought him at last minute

Are you sure? I might do some research on this when I get a chance. I believe Sonny was from West Coast and Andy was from Indian Country in Oklahoma. Doesn't mean they're not but I wonder if they are from same tribe (or maybe nation is more appropriate these days).

Well, I think Edgerrin was a contraction of Ed and German who was Edgerrin's father, as I recall.(Ed German). Maybe he was somehow related to Jammi. Same part of the state? And I guess Tyler and DeMarcus are related.😉

Yes. He was called Silky. I think the original Silky Sullivan was a racehorse. Yep, it was a racehorse. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silky_Sullivan Yes. We had a QB around '70 named Kelly Cochrane. http://www.journalreview.com/sports/article_243b6d3e-f108-5ee0-864b-86fe740c3ad4.html I...

Older pics of what I guess is now called Greentree had some other kinds of pines in the background. Not as dense as what is in these pictures.

Remember the name. Kelly's era was hard for me to follow. Not on TV too much. We were just starting to become nationally prominent again, somewhat more national TV coverage but not as much as late '80's.
