    Also 90% of the schools dont play on Friday nights. Its Saturday afternoons. NY as a whole is just backwards when it comes to football. They dont start camp until late August, NYC and Long Island dont even participate in the State playoffs.

    Now there is some football factory schools but alot of them are predominantly in the hood and alot of those players choose the streets before Academics.

    Exactly, the white boys I played football with only played because they needed to get shape for wrestling or Lacrosse. And alot of them went to Duke, Notre Dame or the Ivy Leagues for Lacrosse.     Another thing is of the over 150+ HS in NYC only 37 field football teams.

    Also there is a ton of talent and speed. We just aren't technically sound or have the passion like kids down south who been playing since 4 or 5. Also down south, kids view the sport as a way out while in NYC just view it as something to stay in shape for before basketball or winter track...

    I know Florida has a ton of kids of immigrants but football in engrained in the culture there unlike NY. In NYC its basketball and Track and Field.

    Lack of Space is a Big issue Lack of Youth Development. There really isnt any true Pop Warner or Youth Football leagues. Most kids dont start playing football until they get to HS. It's still a Basketball Centric city Most kids are kids of Immigrants who dont know a thing about the sport also.

    Poly Prep is a solid program in Brooklyn. Sadly over the years the school started to really put a focus on Academics instead of athletics and stopped recruiting the best of the best in NYC.
