Totally agree. I say he was bad because I was disappointed in it. I have no idea if he's a good coach and if he is I will gladly change my opinion.

Not justifying since I don't like the Patke hire, but the QP said "recommendations from guys whose opinions he trusts." So I assume the explanation is he trusts Diaz's opinion.

I say "bad" in the sense that there's absolutely NOTHING to go on other than Diaz's relationship with him. No track record, no nothing. That was my biggest issue. He may turn out to be a beast - I hope he does.

"Terrible" might have been harsh, and yes Banda shares the load here, but Rumph's misses have been more glaring IMO. I do think he's done a very good job teaching the CB position.

It's not a defensive staff with Power 5 experience. Semantics, but I think there's a difference there. I think Simpson is a good coach. I think Banda is a good coach. I think Rumph is a good technical coach and a terrible recruiter. I think Patke was a bad hire.

You're not wrong as far as experience. And I've never been a believer in the "get coach X and he'll get us player Y." But I believe Simpson is a good coach based on what I've read about him, and I'm not sure it's fair (yet) to equate least experienced with worst...

Just curious since I have NO info, what are you basing this on?

My thoughts from a previous thread (before he was confirmed): IF it's Simpson, I don't believe this is an "underwhelming" hire. Patke was underwhelming. This would be outside the box for sure - Simpson has had an unconventional career track - but the fact remains that Quinn thought highly...
