It’s National Championship day as the rest of the nation is set to watch the Michigan Wolverines take on the UConn Huskies. This also means the transfer portal for the 2026–27 season officially opens tonight, where players have the chance to explore new schools.
Miami basketball has already lost two Hurricanes to the portal, as Tru Washington and Noam Dovrat look to explore their options. The Hurricanes also lose Tre Donaldson, Ernest Udeh, and Malik Reneau, who just played their final year at Miami.
Miami is now portal hunting, looking for the best options for the team. According to sources and our work here on CanesInsight, we’ve already gathered many top players in the portal that Miami is likely to target during portal season.
Check out the list down below:
Acaden Lewis
Villanova transfer guard Acaden Lewis is back in the portal, a name Hurricanes fans should remember from last year. Miami recruited Lewis out of high school, as Jai Lucas was in his final two schools before committing to Villanova. As Lewis entered the transfer portal, he also announced he will declare for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility. According to reports, the Hurricanes are expected to be involved with the 6-foot-2, 190-pound freshman. A native of Washington, DC, Lewis will have three years of eligibility remaining at his next stop and is one of several portal guards expected to hear from Miami later this month. He averaged 12.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game across 33 games in the 2025–26 season, shooting 45.6 percent from the field and 27.0 percent from three-point range.
Somto Cyril
Cyril is also back in the portal after spending time at Georgia, where he averaged 9.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 0.6 assists per game while shooting 75.9 percent from the floor and 57.8 percent from the line. He was originally committed to John Calipari at Kentucky before Calipari’s move to Arkansas, and now Arkansas is expected to be involved again following the coaching change. Miami is in need of a center, so we'll see how this goes.
Anthony Robinson II
Miami fans should look out for Missouri junior guard transfer Anthony Robinson II. He announced his intentions to enter the portal last week, and sources tell CIS that Miami has very close ties with Robinson, as Hurricanes coach Charlton Young coached him at Missouri. Robinson averaged 8.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game across 33 games in the 2025–26 season, shooting 41.0 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from three-point range. He was also named SEC All-Defense two years ago. A class of 2023 recruit out of Tallahassee (FL), Robinson was a three-star prospect, ranked No. 17 in the state, No. 26 point guard, and No. 150 overall in the class.
Jaland Lowe
Lowe has ties to the Miami Hurricanes staff, as his godfather is John Lucas, father of head coach Jai Lucas. Lowe dealt with a shoulder injury before the 2025–26 season and played in just nine games at Kentucky, averaging 8.0 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 18 minutes per game while shooting 35.8% from the field and 20.8% from three. Before Kentucky, he was a key piece at Pittsburgh, starting 31 games as a sophomore and 19 as a freshman. In 2024–25, he averaged 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals over 30 games while shooting 37.7% from the field, 26.8% from three, and 88.3% from the free-throw line.
Tyler Hendricks
According to many reports, Utah Valley transfer Tyler Hendricks has entered the transfer portal. In the 2025–26 season, he averaged 11.8 points, 1.9 assists, 1.2 steals, and 4.3 rebounds over 28 games while playing 29.8 minutes per contest. He shot 49.2% from the field, 44.8% from three, and 79.1% from the free-throw line. He is originally from Fort Lauderdale, FL, and brings the shooting that Miami needs. He will also have only one more year in college.
Matthew Able
Matthew Able was originally committed to Miami coming out of high school before Hurricanes head coach Jim Larrañaga stepped down and Jai Lucas took over. By then, Able decommitted and signed to play for Will Wade at NC State, but after Wade took the LSU job this offseason, he is now back in the portal looking for a new spot. Able will have three years of college eligibility left. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game while shooting 41.6% from the field. He brings big time offensive ability, though he still needs improvement on the defensive end.
Eric Dibami
Eric entered the transfer portal on March 26 and has since been linked to the Miami Hurricanes for several reasons. He is from the area and was coached in high school at Christopher Columbus by Hurricanes assistant coach Andrew Moran. He also played alongside Miami Hurricanes signee Caleb Gaskins at Chrisother Columbus. At FIU this past season, he averaged 9.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. Miami could view the 6-foot-10 center as a depth option in the frontcourt.
