Miami won its first two games by a combined score of 122-13, and now it will play its second conference game of the season as a three-touchdown-plus favorite. The Demon Deacons should provide a stiffer challenge than week one opponent Stanford. Wake Forest coach Jake ****ert is 11-4 since taking over in Winston-Salem, and his teams specialize in slow, grinding games. The goal will be to limit possessions against one of America’s most explosive teams. But if the Hurricanes are clicking, it may not matter.

A year after fielding a spicy defense and middling offense, Wake Forest has done the opposite this season. If you rank 134th in passing success rate allowed after facing Akron and Purdue, you probably won't survive Darian Mensah, Malachi Toney and Miami. But Wake's Gio Lopez-to-Carlos Hernandez combination has been fantastic, Miami corners O.J. Frederique and Xavier Lucas are out, and the Demon Deacons might score enough to make this one entertaining, at least.

The not-so-terribly-long-ago Miami program would manage to make a Friday night in Winston-Salem more interesting than it should be. This version, however—a dynamic offense with two Heisman Trophy contenders and a defense loaded up front—has no business being in a close game.
