A couple of Miami players had strong second halves against the NC State Wolfpack, but Tru Washington’s night didn’t start smoothly.

The New Mexico transfer played just five minutes before halftime, going 1-for-3 from the field as he struggled to find a rhythm early. But a mindset change during the intermission was all Washington needed to completely flip the script.

And Miami needed every bit of it.

The Hurricanes erased an eight-point deficit in the final minute and stunned the Wolfpack on game-winning free throws from Tru Washington.

After the break, Washington looked like a completely different player. The slow first half was quickly forgotten as he poured in 10 points after halftime, shooting 3-of-7 from the field, including 1-of-2 from beyond the arc. He was perfect at the line, going 3-for-3, while also dishing out five assists and committing just one turnover as he played nearly the entire second half.

All of that came after Washington had missed Miami’s previous three games due to personal reasons, making this his first game back this month.

With nothing coming easily for the Hurricanes late, Washington took control. On Miami’s final possession, down 76-74, he was fouled on a three-point attempt. Calm and composed, he knocked down all three free throws to give Miami Hurricanes a dramatic 77-76 win over NC State Wolfpack.

Check out the moment below:

Washington wasn’t alone down the stretch. Tre Donaldson and Malik Reneau each added 10 second-half points, and the trio carried Miami late, consistently knocking down big, momentum-shifting shots to save the Hurricanes when it mattered most.
