Former Miami Hurricanes point guard Tre Donaldson has been a solid contributor for the Miami Heat in preseason play.

Donaldson had a really good summer with the Heat, averaging 16.2 points, 6.8 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in 31.3 minutes of play. He also shot 52.9 percent from the field and an efficient 43.8 percent from behind the arc. His best game came against the Detroit Pistons, where he totaled 20 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.

In preseason play, his best outing came in the 128-118 win over the Pelicans, where he recorded 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting and 2-of-3 from behind the arc, while also adding one rebound and two assists. He also added six points, going 4-of-6 from the free-throw line, in the 129-105 win over the Raptors, along with three assists, one steal, and one block.

"I’m a rookie but I’m a leader. I’m a natural born leader. So I’m not afraid to challenge the older guys and bring my aspect of my game of what makes me who I am to this organization. That’s who they want me to be, they want me to be myself…just challenge these older guys and learn," said Donaldson.

Donaldson is on a one-year, two-way deal with the Heat and is eligible to appear in up to 50 games this season. At Miami, he averaged 16.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 5.7 assists per game while helping lead the team back to the NCAA Tournament.

The Heat will face the 1-1 Minnesota Timberwolves tonight at the Kaseya Center. The team will stay at home on October 14 to take on the Brooklyn Nets before traveling to Orlando to face the Magic to wrap up preseason play.
