Outgaining your opponent by more than 500 yards is usually a solid strategy. Miami got to that big number by creating chunk plays.

Here are the key plays that led the Hurricanes to the winner’s circle.

Swing out to Chris Johnson

When the Hurricanes were getting things going it was Chris Johnson who started the party in Coral Gables, Shannon Dawson set up a swing play to the left to Chris Johnson with blockers in front of him and as soon as Chris Johnson got in front of the Ball State defenders, they were not going to catch him.

Ajay Allen gets downhill

The game was already over when Ajay Allen got downhill, as Allen hit the middle and then bounced it out to the outside to go all the way to the crib for 56 yards.

Elija Lofton gets first career touchdown with a dime

Elija Lofton finally got his first touchdown as a Hurricane and it was perfect, Dawson set up a play for Lofton with him coming in motion and Emory Williams found him and put it in the basket for the touchdown.

That block by X on CJJ’s TD was just incredible. He took his man out of the play then chipped the other dude coming over to help just enough to spring CJJ. I don’t know what X will do in the league, but I think he should be considered for all America if he keeps playing like this.
