The Miami Hurricanes and the Clemson Tigers are set to battle on the gridiron today at Memorial Stadium. Here are three key Tigers to monitor when the Hurricanes take on Dabo Swinney's squad tonight:
Gideon Davidson, RB
Davidson is coming off his best performance of the season in the win over California, rushing for 159 yards on 22 carries and two touchdowns. His longest rush of the day was a 75-yarder, and he averaged 7.2 yards per carry. So far this season, he has recorded a total of 346 yards on 59 carries with three rushing touchdowns. He has also caught three passes for six yards. Last season, he played in a backup role, recording 60 carries for 260 yards. He has been a difference maker in the past two games for the Tigers and will be one to monitor heading into the game tonight.
Ashton Hampton, CB
Hampton is currently one of the best cornerbacks in the ACC. He is the only defensive back with 80+ grades in both zone and man coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. He has been targeted 26 times, allowing only nine catches for 98 yards, zero touchdowns, one interception, and seven pass breakups. Miami has some of the best receivers in college football, making his matchup against Cooper Barkate one to watch.
Will Heldt, DE
Miami's offensive line will be tested tonight off the edge by veteran defensive end Will Heldt. He has been the most productive pass rushers for the Tigers this season, recording a total of 12 tackles and four sacks, which ranks him fourth in the ACC. Last season, he recorded 47 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.
