The Miami Hurricanes and the Central Michigan Chippewas are set to battle on the gridiron today at Hard Rock Stadium. While the Chippewas aren't the biggest opponent on the schedule, here are three players Hurricanes fans should watch:
QB | Angel Flores
The guy the Miami Hurricanes have to worry about the most is the Chippewas' starting quarterback, Angel Flores. He is the whole offense for the Chippewas, leading the team in rushing and passing yards. He currently has a total of 312 rushing yards on 60 attempts. We talked about it all week: if the Hurricanes are going to cause trouble, they have to make sure to stuff the run, stop Flores, and make the Central Michigan offense one-dimensional, forcing them to pass the ball. The Hurricanes' front seven should give him some trouble in the backfield so he doesn't have the choice to throw the ball. He is the one guy the Hurricanes have to worry about the most, as the Chippewas offense doesn't pass the ball much.
LB | Xavier White
Central Michigan veteran linebacker Xavier White leads the Chippewas in tackles (30). He is currently ranked No. 19 in the country for total tackles and No. 3 in the MAC Conference. He also has a forced fumble alongside a pass deflection. He has been with the Chippewas for three seasons, recording a total of 61 tackles, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection. He will be a player to watch in the middle of the defense for the Chippewas as the Hurricanes look to dominate another defense.
DE | Korver Demma
Central Michigan defensive end Korver Demma has played strong during his first two seasons with the Chippewas. He currently leads the defense with 10 quarterback pressures, while also adding one sack and eight total tackles this year. Standing at 6-foot-3 and 245 pounds, Demma recorded 28 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble last season.
