Prolific pass rusher DE DeAnthony Lafayette signs with Miami

Miami has landed one of the most prolific pass rushers in the country with the signing of defensive end DeAnthony Lafayette.

A 6-foot-1, 230-pound edge rusher from Orlando, Fla., Lafayette is lightning quick off the edge and closes well.

Last season he racked up 73 tackles, 40 QBHs and 17.5 sacks in 11 games, and leveled up this season with 19.5 sacks, 30 TFL’s and even 5 touchdowns as a running back.

He was originally committed to LSU before flipping to the ’Canes in November.

Looking at his film, Lafayette creates havoc in both the run and pass game, complementing his speed with an underrated amount of power. This is a twitched up athlete whose burst and change of direction have all the signs of a natural rushing threat.

I know Mario is high on making sure it looks the way its supposed to but why we spamming these 6 feet DE types? The chances they all are legit and can hold point of attack is very low.. Where are the 6'4 to 6'6 freaks?

This guy has the frame of somebody 6’4 -6’5. His arms are extremely long with a very long frame . He also plays with great leverage as a shorter guy but the power and reach of a big guy. I get this take and like it .

Cmon, you know those guys are built very different and even answered the question "can you play DT?" Which one of these commits project as Bain so I can have better understanding?

Make it seem like its wrong when our OWN HC says it has to look a certain way.. Watch bama/uga game.. we still got work to do..

If he can put on 30 lbs and keep his speed he gonna look like a Jerome McDougal type coming off the edge...

I think the idea is to be more multiple. These guys can perform the Jack role in either pressuring the QB or simulating pressure then dropping into short area coverage. Seems a good fit from his stats and physicals.

You must be high Alabama doesn’t look the same at all.
They don’t but I’m talking about the movement from their defense and some on offense. They got some dudes you can tell. But they ain’t winning it
