The commitments are fastly trickling in. Miami almost has next season's roster locked down with the recent additions of Chris Birden, Nick Dorn, and Brent Bland. Now it's time to fill out a frontcourt piece?

Head Coach Jai Lucas needs some depth going into 2026-27. LSU forward Robert Miller III could provide it. Sources tell me and Canesinsight that Miller took a visit on Wednesday April 6. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound big man is coming off a very productive season for the Tigers and will have 2 years left of college eligibility.

247Sports does not list Miller in the transfer portal Rankings, but On3 ranks him as a four-star transfer prospect and No. 228 nationally. Let's get to know him better through another edition of Canesinsight’s Portal Pulse.

Two seasons and now on the go

A native of Texas who graduated from Pasadena Memorial (TX). He was a four-star recruit out of high school with a lot of experience. Finishing No. 81 overall in the 2024 recruiting class by 247Sports rankings. He had offers from teams like Alabama, Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, and Oklahoma just to name a few.

Miller's freshman season in 2024-25 was productive for the Tigers. He appeared in 30 games off the bench for LSU, averaging 4.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks in 15.7 minutes per outing. He shot 61.5 percent from the floor, 20 percent from deep, and 63.6 percent from the line. He logged a season-high nineteen points against No. 2 Florida where he showed completely what he is capable of and showed that against the best frontcourt in all of college basketball.

His sophomore year picked up some speed, and he became a much more impactful player. Miller took the floor in 31 games for LSU in 2025-26, two as a starter. He averaged 6.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game in 19.4 minutes per contest. He shot 65.7 percent from the floor, 69.9 percent from the line, and didn't attempt a three-pointer. Miller reached double-digits in 5 games, posting a season-high 12 points against Texas A&M in SEC play.

From there Miller has entered the transfer portal, and sources are telling me that the Arkansas Razorbacks are heavily in his recruitment. “All I heard was Arkansas wants him REALLY bad.” is what I was told by a source showing how bad teams want Miller he has the potential and if developed right he could become a star in the near future for wherever he lands next.

What the advanced stats say about his game

Robert Miller III averaged strong efficiency numbers that reflect his role as an athletic, defense-first forward. He has a 68.9 percent true shooting percentage and a 65.7 percent effective field goal percentage, showing how productive he was around the basket. His offensive rating was 121.2, meaning LSU’s offense was highly efficient when he was on the floor. Defensively, he recorded a 7.9 percent block rate, one of the best indicators of his rim protection ability, while adding a 12.5 percent total rebound rate. His usage rate sat at 14.6 percent , which shows he was not heavily relied on as a primary scorer, and his 20.8 percent turnover rate highlights an area that still needs improvement when handling the ball or making plays under pressure. Overall, the numbers point to a forward who impacts winning through efficiency, defense, rebounding, and energy rather than high-volume scoring.

In my opinion I think this would be a amazing get for Jai Lucas and Miami, what do you think?

Good article, I like the advanced stats addition. Would be a really good 2C especially since foul trouble is supposedly a problem for Cyril.
