With the early signing period just a month away, D$ and I take the bye week to rundown what's happening in the world of Miami recruiting, beginning with the offensive side of the ball.

The news about the offensive line is horrible. I made the same point acouple days back, we've missed on every so flo Olinemen. I hope we can flip Martinez a kid that can play both OT/OG is extremely valuable when your numbers are low. Really poor/pathetic recruiting effort at Oline again.

Offensive line recruiting this year has been rough.

Martinez
Rivers
Dumervil
Walker

All appear to have serious potential and Miami is getting one of them.

I hoped Miami would get 2 true tackles and then take 2 athletic projects (tall, lean, quick guys who today look more like basketball players) with maybe another interior player as well. Today they can’t even find projects to commit to Miami.

The starting offensive line and the interior offensive line is likely fine for next year if no one leaves. But Rivers is the only recruit who might crack the two deep. On top of that this team has zero realistic options at tackle outside of the 2 starters. Rivers, Herbert, ElGammal, and Campbell very likely are the only potential backup tackles next year. That’s very rough depth at a key spot.

Great podcast other than DMoney acting like Belen is a good school not full of super hurting weirdos

Like the moise segment. I agree He can be a fantastic player on any side of the line. We will see where he ends up once he gets to Miami but he has a lot of upside on either side of the ball. Might need him as an interior lineman considering what we already have at dt

yes. I am thinking this is what the staff has in their mind, too. It makes sense.

Miami does have a lot at DT currently but I like the idea of that pipeline being full. I'm not near as worried about the interior offensive line, as some are. I think Miami has a massive problem at offensive tackle though going forward.

Next year they return Miller (could leave, doubtful), Ford (gone after next season), and Nesta (could leave, doubtful). They have the 3 relatively unkown freshman who are all redshirting - hopefully 1 or all of them step up. There is also Martin, I guess (should be gone after next season). With Riggins being dropped the incoming DT class is basically Moise and Roberts. The defensive tackle group is guaranteed to lose 2 guys after next season with the (unlikely) potential to lose 4. They lose Nnoruka and Bethel this year. I think taking 2 DTs in this class is a must.

When I see teams throughout the country I realize there are lots of OLinemen to be had so you don't end up with a situation like ours.

Yeah this recruiting update is not good. You would think with our current oline struggles the staff would be on top of recruiting more talent. We’ll end up in the transfer portal if they don’t get to work

field is trash in recruiting and developing. Not locking up a stud TE this class will ***** us.

We should be going after more JUCO guys alot earlier to solidify depth....looks like we could be forced to hit the portal hard again....
